The Softest Balls In All The Land
Actually, POTW goes to Bean Dip, but I honestly can't remember his real name. One of Underdog's values is for everyone to have a good time. And not only do the Softest Balls have a good time, they help make it fun for everyone. In the past few weeks in another league, I witnessed a team that was far superior and dominating the game and arguing and angry at close ball and strike calls. Whereas Bean Dip might have a new player down 0-2 and he will send it right down the middle to give them a chance to hit. Hats off to The Softest Balls and honestly all the teams of the Sunday West Seattle league for their sportsmanship and love of the game.

Belltown Pub
Alison E earns this week's player of the week award for crushing a mammoth HR to left center field during a crazy 10-run rally as her team, Belltown Pub, jhust squeaked by the Red Machine, 23-21. It was 20-13 Red Machine heading into the top of the 7th, and Alison's hit was one of the catalysts en route to a huge comeback victory! Congrats Alison and team!

The Softest Balls In All The Land
Breana M earns this week's Player of the Week award for crushing a "Grand Slaminnitti" (get it?) and having a great overall attitude. Same can be said for her entire team, Softest Balls in All The Land, as they are great sports every time out there. Keep slugging, Breana!

Giving up only 5 runs in 7 innings of a softball game in a park where the ball can (and will) just roll forever is a pretty big accomplishment, and Mike C did just that on Sunday. In the closest game of the day, Belltown Pub just edged Softest Balls In All The Land 8-5 and Mike was a big reason for the victory. When he gave up baserunners, he buckled down and got some clutch popups and let his defense do the rest of the work in a game that can be seen as a championship preview.

Sliding catches are things one doesn't see too often in Underdog softball. When they are made, they should be remembered and recognized. Michael H had not one, but two (both times he slid and caught the ball from the ground, nicely done!) of these babies, including one to end the game. He also delivered at the plate (after fouling out his first time), driving in 2 runs in an 8-6 victory. Congrats Michael!

That Pitch Cray
Kei H earns this week's Player of the Week award for pitching in back to back games, and only giving up 55 runs. He's always got a smile on his face and stepped up when the last team of the day needed an extra player. Kei was a menace behind the plate, knocking a couple of home runs. His arm might be a little tired, and he's got to rest it up for the playoffs next week!

Player Hits HR and Double in Semifinal
In the semifinal game, Ashleigh stepped up big for the Red Machine. She powered a home run and double, along with a couple of other hits to bring home several of her teammates in a 26-run showcase. The hits continued in the final game, although they wouldn't be enough, thanks to the excellent defense of the eventual champions.
