Todd Sigley
Todd Sigley
Sparkle Mountain Chupacabras
Rarely in Underdog does a single play earn somebody Player of the Week honors. Todd Sigley is the exception to that principle this week. While playing catcher, Todd was the centerpoint of a close play at home. With a speedy runner careening around third base, Sparkle Mountain Chupacabras' pitcher air mailed the ball home, attempting to gun the runner down. Todd, undeterred, fielded the wayward throw, redirecting the the ball into the runner with his FOOT, getting the third out for his team. For his uncanny athleticism, Todd is our player of the week.

Jeremy Sosman
New Kicks on the Block
Jeremy was a kicking machine in both games of his team's Sunday double-header. In game 1, he started with an RKI double in the first to spot the New Kicks on the Block a quick lead. Then he continued adding to the scoreboard with a 2-run sac fly in the 2nd, a lead off double and run scored in the 5th and a huge 2-run triple in the 6th to tie the game as we went into the 7th inning. Jeremey came through again with another RKI and run scored as part of the New Kicks 6-run 7th inning that proved to be enough for the victory. Game 2 was a more defensively minded game but Jeremey continued to add to his stats with an RKI single in the 3rd, a double in the 5th and another run scoring sac fly in the 6th. He was solid on D as well with several nice catches in right field and was the key in New Kicks going 2-0 on Sunday.

Indy #K26 Star Beefs Up Offensive Performance
Later in the afternoon on Sunday, INDY team K2600 played the second game of their double-header and put on an offensive performance. Scoring 18 runs in seven innings, star kicker Paul K. hit not one, but two inside-the-park homeruns. Paul's homeruns came consecutively in back-to-back innings and even had the same teammates on base who scored. With a total of 7RBI and 2 homeruns, Paul K. was very much the top offensive performer on Sunday. And so, Paul is our Player of the Week. Congratulations!

New Kicks on the Block Star Kicks It Up and Takes A Kick for His Team
As usual, great games this week at Ballard Boys and Girls Club. The last game was especially exciting, with a 7-6 score, We Got The Runs narrowly beat out Recess All Stars for the win (FTW). Really good game. But the standout performance from this week and Player of the Week was the shifty kickballer Mitch K. from New Kicks on the Block. Known for curving calculated line drives as a kicker, Mitch K. also hits for power and helped his team win not one, but two, games on Sunday during their double-header. Mitch hit a homerun and a triple to help his team secure the win in their first game. And after sitting out for a short injury stint, he came back to help his team win game two. Some things like Mitch K.'s performance cannot be explained by team muffins (a team leader brought food for New Kicks on the Block this week), Mitch clearly came to play this week and earns this week's Player of the Week (POTW) award. More games to come and Underdog Sports Leagues Halloween Bash on Saturday, October 31st.

New Kicks on the Block Kickball Champions Fall 2015
Great championship game. Very difficult to pinpoint one play or one player. It took team effort to create such a close championship game. Prizes were at stake. Evil Empire won earlier on in the day and came back ready to play. New Kicks on the Block showed up and played two games back-to-back. At the end, it was New Kicks on the Block that took home the "champions" prizes. That is why we are honoring Jennifer "Jenn" Soo Hoo; team captain, team organizer, solid 3B defense, good bunter and full-kicker, not afraid to challenge rulings/calls, and talkative on the field. All these descriptions embody Jennifer, a good kickball player in general. Jennifer helped her team win two games and made one of the more incredible force outs anyone has ever seen. The play was a hot shot to third base, and instead of picking up the ball to throw out the runner moving to second, Jennifer kicked a lazy fly ball over to her teammate standing on second base. The ball was in the air, everyone gazing and watching... and waiting to see if the ball or the runner would arrive first. Epic. Just before the runner got to second, the ball came down perfectly, and was caught to put out the runner. "Jenn" shrugged the play off like that was the only way to play it- it came natural. Very big play in this close game. Thank you to everyone that played at Ballard Boys & Girls Club. Thank you and congratulations to Jennifer Soo Hoo for being this week's Player of the Week (POTW) and helping her team New Kicks on the Block win the 2015 Fall Kickball Championship at Ballard Boys & Girls Club. !!!
