At the beginning of the day, you could tell Joe Ferrara had his sights set on an Underdog Kickball Chmapionship. Joe led off the first game of the day by strectching an infield single into a triple through clever base-running. And it was that kind of day for him throughout. Joe was everywhere, giving direction where needed, but backing it up himself with sound play on both offense and defense. Joe had obviously spent time on strategy and serious practice of fundamentals, and while we usually bemoan those who take our little game a bit too seriously, Joe didn't fit that mold. Joe was just as quick with a smile and a joke as he was with a throw to first. This was exemplified in one of the most humorous moments of the day, when Joe blasted off the backstop to field a bunt and decided to outrun the kicker for the foprce at first. This move was in good fun and got a laugh from both teams. In the end, Joe stood as a chmap fort the first time in Underdog Kickball. His hard work had paid off. Congratulations to Joe and all of Cahones!
