The Gold Glover
This past Monday at Cascade playfield, Jillian made her presence known on the field. After collecting 6/6 outs through the first two innings (seriously), Jillian made a show stopping double play. Jillian caught a hard liner to 3rd, then promptly pegged an oncoming runner from 2nd who had creeped a bit too far off base. For her awareness and athletic prowess, Jillian is our player of the week. Congrats!

Cameron Wu
The Honey Badgers
Cameron finally got it together on the kicking side of the field getting on base for the first time. But it didn't stop there, he went 3 for 4, and even his out was a hot line drive curving down the line that the 3rd baseman only caught in self defense. All told, he kicked in 2 runs off of nice singles and scored a run following another single and some heads up base running to avoid an out at 3rd. It was a solid performance on both sides of the ball and I'm sure, just a hint of things to come. Well done Cameron!

"Don't Kick It To Right Field"
This past Wednesday at Cascade park, Thao played a key role in shutting down her opponents' offense. Repeatedly, Thao put away fly ball after fly ball to right field, guiding her team to victory on the day. At one point, one of Thao's opponent's warned his teammates not to kick it to right field, as he knew that Thao would undoubtedly seal the out. For her perfect fielding percentage throughout the game, Thao is our player of the week.

What even is a catch anymore?
This past Wednesday at Cascade playfield, Catherine Bergeron showed how valuable it can be to lay out for a fly ball. Whilst playing centerfield, Catherine charged up on a line drive kick that was dropping into the gap. Normal intuition would tell one that she would not reach the spot of the ball in time, but Catherine said "To Hell with intuition!" Catherine proceeded to dive forward, scooping the ball underneath her with one arm. Though game conditions and a slight bobble caused the umpire to rule that the ball hit the ground, Catherine's effort was undoubtedly heroic. For her athletic prowess, Catherine is our player of the week.

Blake Bjornson
Sol Kickers
Blake had some great fielding that contributed to the win this week. Most note worthy was fabulous catch that he saved after it deflected off his teammate.

Jamal Miller - The Acrobat
Jamal's impressive plays throughout the course of his game at Cascade park earned him player of the game nods from his teammates. His seeming inability to fall, no matter how off balance he was, earns him player of the week. Multiple times during the game, Jamal's incredible hustle and breackneck speed caused him to stumble on the bumpy Cascade grass. Every time, however, Jamal caught himself and eventually stumbled upright. Honestly, it was just really impressive each time. For the laughs he inspired, the plays he made, and his impeccable balance, Jamal is our player of the week.

Don't Run on Him
An incredible double-play throwout at home earns Alex Pasley POTW honors for this past week. The play in question occurred when a routine bunt resulted in a throw-out to first, which Alex caught with ease. There was a runner at 3rd who began advancing home on the play, however. Alex, in an "over my dead body" type of moment, sprinted towards home plate and hurled the ball at the runner. Just before the run got home, Alex nailed the runner in the foot. For routinely making plays as spectacular as the one in question, Alex is our player of the week.

Jordan Meenen
Alcoballics
Jordan was running all over center field making great catches and keeping his team in the game. Offensively, he was 3 for 4 with an RBI double and two runs scored. Even though his team came up short in the end he played hard and had a good time which is exactly what this is all about!
Claire gave a clinic in all aspects of kickball play on Wednesday. Her pitching was spectacular with some nice catches and a couple big throws for outs at 1st. Offensively, she scored 2 runs with some heads up base running and kicked in a couple runs as well. It was a complete game effort and well deserved POTW.
James was getting down to business on defense playing outstanding as catcher in the first round of the playoffs. In the 2nd inning, after a nice bunt was laid down by the Honey Badgers, James went full force for the ball--glasses flying off and stumbling--he picked that red rubber up and nailed the runner for a big out. In the next inning, glasses off this time, he was able to use his speed to track down and catch a little pop-up down the first base line. He also went 3 for 4 on offense with an RKI and a run scored. Nice work James and thanks for keeping it fun.
This week the championship was played and the person who has the best performance was Matt. He made several great catches all around the outfield on high pop up kicks and took away extra bases from many kickers. These catches looked like a can of corn for Matt and there were shades of Lynn Swann with the soft hands that he was able to display. Along with his great defensive Matt was also able to contribute a few hits in the game and that's why he's this weeks player of the game!
