Spring Co-ed Softball at Northacres Sundays

In their first game of a double-header, the Infield Flies took the field against P.B.Army. This was a great game where both teams changed leads seemingly every inning! The game was tied going into the top of the 7th (last inning) and the bases were full. P.B.Army was thinking double play to get out of the inning, so they pulled the outfield in as Vonne Noe of Infield Flies stepped to the plate. With one swing of her bat she took the pitch deeeeeeeep to the left field fence and well beyond the grasp of the left fielder who had been playing shallow. By the time the dust had cleared Vonne had hit the GAME WINNING IN THE PARK GRAND SLAM HOME RUN!!!! Congrats Vonne & the Infield Flies on an impressive & unprecedented victory!

On a wet & wild Sunday at Northacres it was The Amazing Spider Pigs squaring off against Scared Hitless. This was about as close a game as you'll ever see with lead changes and with the last three innings tied this was anyone's game! With runners on base in the bottom of the 7th and a chance for the walk-off victory it was Jeremy Fitch of The Amazing Spider Pigs who stepped to the plate and promptly laced the game winning hit into the outfield for a final score of 11-10!!! Congrats to Jeremy Fitch, the Player of the Week and The Amazing Spider Pigs on winning both games of their double-header!

In the third game of the day with the rain just starting to fall it was the Infield Flies vs. the Wolverines. From the first inning the Infield Flies jumped out to a 6-1 lead and never looked back! While the final score of 14-5 was an impressive victory for the Infield Flies, the real impressive stat involved the hot bat & even hotter wheels of Austin Crook. Austin was not only perfect from the plate, he hit an incredible 4 triples!!! Congrats Infield Flies and Austin Crook A.K.A. Player of the Week!

Naturally the Player of the Week has to go to the Spring League Champs, the Barking Geckos! What makes this Player of the Week most interesting is that she hasn't played in weeks due to injury! Despite this fact, Kari Callahan was nominated as the "hands-down" Player of the Week by her entire team. Was it Kari's qualities as the team captain, cheers of encouragement, or organization of food/schedule/accountability/strategy which earned her this honor? Nope! She was nominated with such enthusiasm for "getting the team home every game!" Congrats to Barking Geckos and Kari Callahan - Player of the Week!
