Summer Co-ed Kickball at Ballard Playfield Sundays

Robin is our player of the week for Sunday's Ballard Playfields league. Despite never before having thrown a game, Robin turned in a stellar pitching performance by the day's end. Her masterful throws made getting on base a struggle for her opponents, and for her newfound inherent ability, Robin is our player of the week.

Splitting her time at catcher and out in the field, Carrie made everyone think twice about bunting when she was back there! She used her patented "fielding a bunt by kicking it to first" numerous times, only once being penalized with a headshot, but she definitely planted the seed of doubt in the bunters minds, providing a little smack talk in the process. Congrats Carrie on being this week's Player of the Week!

In the final day of the regular season, Mike brought his all to every part of his game--especially his cheering and excitement. In what could be his team's last game, Mike was there to pump them up [and maybe distract the other team a little with "those thighs"]. On offense, he had some big kicks and accounted for half of the total scoring for Top Crotch. He was solid on D as well with some nice catches, if only I could get those short, shorts out of my head!

In the long awaited Championship game it was the #2 seeded Bottom of the Fifth taking on the #1 seeded South Prop Drop. To say that these teams are familiar with each other is a huge understatement since they know each other well on and off the kickball field. Of course that means that 'bragging rights' takes on more of a meaning. Battling through not only a competitive Championship game, but also (in shades of MJ himself) battling the flu was Bottom of the Fifth's own Andy MacDonald. He wasn't feeling 100% for sure, but you couldn't tell by the way his 2 run homerun proved to be the difference and he helped lead Bottom of the Fifth to a dramatic 13-11 Championship win!!! Congrats to Bottom of the Fifth on their Championship title and to Andy MacDonald on Player of the Week honors!!
