Fifth Base - Indy #1, Los Toros, Mount St. Hellions, Team Boat People
POTW: Tino Ganacias
Blue Ballers
Tino Ganacias of the Blue Ballers quickly established himself as an enthusiast in support of the skill level of himself and his team in Tuesday's game against the Drinkers with a Kicking Problem at the Ballard Boys and Girl's Club. With a new pitcher subbing in in the 5th inning however, Tino was forced to eat a small, yet well deserved, piece of humble pie after striking out on two consecutive foul balls, not quite living up to the reputation he had so recently established for himself. Tino earned player of the week for maintaining his composure and optimism during the most embarassing at bat of the evening and for keeping kickball all about fun!
Blue Ballers, Cleveland Steamers, Dr. Sanchez and the Ballers, Fifth Base - Indy #1
POTW: Jeff Reinhart
Los Toros
Jeff brought it all to the table Tuesday night. His sole HR helped his team claim a 4-2 victory, but it was the 6-8 outs he recorded at first that really facilitated the win. Congrats, Jeff!

POTW: Heather McMillan
Drinkers with a Kicking Problem
It was a tight game Tuesday at the Ballard Boys and Girls Club between Fifth Base and Drinkers With a Kicking Problem. After 7 innings, we were tied at 2 and went deep into the night. After a big first half of the 8th, The Drinkers had to rely on their defense to hold up to secure the win. And hold up they did- thanks in large part to the pitching and sure hands of Heather "Pork Chop" McMillan. Heather pitched a solid game througout and finished it off by catching the last out of the game.
Dr. Sanchez and the Ballers, Drinkers with a Kicking Problem, Mount St. Hellions, Team Boat People
POTW: Shaelene Ibbetson
Los Toros
Shaelene was the Sliding Queen on Thursday night. She slid into first twice to avoid being out. She also safely slid into second later on.
Most impressive, though, was the catch she made in the outfield...and you guessed it: it was a sliding catch. She caught the ball and lost her footing at the same time, managing to hold on to the ball while lying flush with the ground.
After the game she was last seen attempting to slide from the playing field to her car :-)
Team Boat People forfeited to Dr. Sanchez and the Ballers.

POTW: Victor Warkentin
Los Toros
Victor "Crazy Legs" Warkentin looked like Mr. elastic on Tuesday stretching all over the place to grab balls for outs at first base. That stretching helped keep the shutout intact for Los Toros.
Blue Ballers, Cleveland Steamers, Drinkers with a Kicking Problem, Team Boat People
POTW: Allison Adams
Los Toros
Superb defense earned Allsion Adams the Player of the Week. She made a helluva catch out in right field where balls were flying her direction all day. The Ballers were testing Allison and she rose to the occassion. Allison kicked the ball with authority as well but her last catch in right kept the team in the game so they could mount their fierce comeback. Great job out there Allison.
Playoffs Begin 8/5, ALL Teams will play either an exhibition game or a playoff game.
Playoff Seeds
[1] Cleveland Steamers
[2] Dr Sanchez and the Ballers
[3] Blue Ballers
[4] Los Toros
Exhibition Games:
Drinker with a Kicking Problem vs. Team Boat People
Fifth Base vs. Mount Saint Hellions
POTW: Bryce Niekamp
Cleveland Steamers
Bryce Niekamp's defense was unparalleled in centerfield yesterday in the opening round of the playoffs. His defense systems were at defcon 5. He was a moat. He was a castle with towers with people pouring molten lead over any balls that would try to scale his wall. Is that too loose of a metaphor? Anyway, what we're trying to say is that Bryce caught everything that came his way and then some. He was big when the Los Toros threatened to jump back into it late in the game, and he helped secured the win and advance his team.
