Summer Co-ed Softball at Queen Anne Sundays

Liz Brennan, the captain of Karate Explosion, started the season off with some gusto this Sunday at the West Queen Anne fields. In their game against The Deuce, Liz's bat and fielding were responsible for securing the victory for the Explosion. In the third inning of the game Liz came up to bat with the bases loaded, she popped a huge double to clear the bases, she then went on to score. Not only did her run production secure the lead for the rest of the game, her defensive work ensured that the Deuce would not be able to make a comeback.

Exhibiting her kickball skills on the softball diamond, Sheree Casom was a terror on the base paths in her game against DiscoverU.org. Sheree had a triple and a single, 3 RBIs and 2 Runs to lead her team, Soft Balls, to victory.

Albert "Ichiro" Perritt might start making #51 nervous if he keeps playing like he did Sunday. Batting leadoff for the Whisker Biscuits he reached base every at bat and scored four runs. After taking part in his team's winning rally in the top of the 7th, he put on his defensive cap and helped rap up the victory. With a runner on first and two outs, the Grass Stained Balls batter hit a solid single into the left field gap. The runner decided to test Albert's arm and go from first to third, but was caught dead to rights by his cannon of an arm for the game ending outfield assist.

Kevin was an all around star for the Evil Tangents on Sunday. The veteran righty kept his team in it, allowing only 5 runs and striking out several in 7 innings. The Tangents were down 5-4 going into the bottom of the 7th. They rallied and tied it, and Kevin came up with two outs and hit a screaming line drive down the right field line to bring in the winning run from 2nd base.

From now on, the line "You play ball like a girl!" is a complement. Jessika was hitting the ball so well, some players on the other team asked jokingly if she knew Barry Bonds. In the semifinal and championship games on Sunday, Jess hit 3 HRs and was a threat everytime she came up to the plate. She also played lights out defense in left center field, and was a big reason why the Deuce was victorious.
