Spring Co-ed Softball at Magnolia/Queen Anne Sundays

On a chilly spring day in Magnolia, the Spring league of Underdog Sports League Softball kicked off with a bang. In the first game of the day, Here for Beer took on their old rival the Arbornauts. While the "Arbies" have the experience, Here for Beer has the heart. There is no better example of Beer's heart than in their third baseman Lindsey Church. Lindsey had a huge triple to set off Beer's lead. Also, her stellar and gritty play at the hot corner made a come back by the Arbies impossible.

Leslie had a good day of batting and played a solid left field, helping her team win 21-16 on the day. In addition to this, Leslie gave everyone a hitting lesson when she stroked a triple over the outfielders' heads late in the game.

In a game where Chico's Bail Bonds was always trailing The Strippers by one run inning after inning, it wasn't until the 6th inning that they tied it up. With such a hard fought game and the score still tied at the end of 7, you know it just had to go into an 8th inning! Keeping the Strippers scoreless in the top of the 8th with some gold-glove-action Carlo Zaskorski stepped to the plate in the bottom of 8 with runners in scoring position and smacked a sweet shot into the outfield driving in the game winning run. Carlo is hands down our player of the week!!!

I had never umped a game where each team scored every inning until Sunday's epic battle between Unicorns!! and Schitzengiggles. Schitzengiggles scored the game-winning run in the bottom on the 7th to win 24-23.

First base (and Player of the Week) belonged to Lesley Himmel all day. On groundouts to first, she out-hustled runners to the bag. She recorded outs by fully stretching out to make the catch. She recorded one out while literally sitting on the bag. Best of all, she alertly tagged out a runner who ran past first base without touching the bag.

To top it all off, Lindsey brought a mean bat to the game, too. In her first AB, she smoked a triple down the first base line.
