Spring Softcore Kickball in Everett Thursdays

Guy Morton deserves player of the week honors for fulfilling that life long dream we all had as a kid. Bottom of the seventh inning in a tie game, you come to plate hoping to drive in that winning run. Well Guy, not only hoped, but actually drove home the game winning run to give his team, Washingthem Ball Stars their second win of the season. In the post game interview Guy gave all the credit to his wonderful teammates as he would not have had this opportunity without them. Guy has the tools of a great player by being humble, encouraging teammates and a clutch player, so other teams better beware of the dangerous Guy Morton.

Andrew Adams performance was legendary in Fluke Yeah's improbable tie to the seemingly unbeatable Shawn Kemp. In his first season Andrew has played like a season veteran with his excellent defense and stellar offense. With his team down a player, Andrew seem like two players out in the field making all types of catches. His offense shouldn't be slighted as Andrew reached base multiple times and scored a few runs. If this is the only the beginning for Andrew, all the other teams need to watch out.

Kim Modene deserves player of the week for her defensive prowess. Kim’s defense solely kept her team in the game by making multiple outs in every way possible from hitting runners with the ball to making force outs to catching everything in sight. While playing one of the busiest positions on the field, second base, Kim was making every tough play look routine. Kim seems to be hitting her stride, so warning to other teams do not kick it to Kim or pay the consequences.

In one of the best games I saw all season, Keith Brown was the shining star on the field. Keith led with his defense while literally laying his body on the line. From the pitcher's mound Keith made an unbelievable diving catch. His offense was no second fiddle to his defense as he got on base almost every time at he came to the plate, which would have been enough to earn the player of the week honors. He had one of the most spectacular play on the base path when he was able to act on his motto of "I don't slide, I dodge the ball." Keith was on his way home when a player from Sacks N Racks had him dead to rights, but Keith was able to dodge the ball and score a crucial run that helped Washingtem Ball Stars secure the win.

All the Washingthem Ball Stars played stellar defense with the shining star being Jordan Brooks. With the championship on the line, Jordan played her best game. She was rock solid at first base, making mutiple out with the help of her team, but her best plays were made solo. Jordam made some fantastic catches to help Ball Stars take home the championship. With the Jordan at the helm other teams better watch out for next season.
