POTW: Cathy Good
Aroma Brewers
This weeks player of the week goes to Cathy Good for her excellent play, and great charisma. Cathy played two games and hit the ball outstanding, with lots of RBI's and putting the defense to work. She also did a great job pitching in windy conditions still being able to find the strike zone. The opponents did not need the umpire when she pitched cause if it wasn't hitting the strike zone she was apologizing about the less the perfect pitch well before it got there. With her winning personality and hard hitting balls, Cathy starts the season off as the first Player of the Week!

POTW: Jason Lightfoot
the Underdevelopments
This weeks player of the week goes to the Jason Lightfoot and his multiple highlight reel plays. The catches he made were applauded by his team as well as the opponent who were shocked numerous times of the skills of the bearded left-center. He robbed many runs by making sprinting catches, over the shoulder, between the legs, you name it Jason probably did it! Great job Jason! Oh yeah he hit the ball a mile when at the plate as well. Keep it up bearded man!

Justin Hjelm is excellent in both defense and offense
Justin Hjelm of the Underdevelopments is unarguably one of the best all around players in Underdog Softball. When speaking of all around, that refers to leadership, sportsmanship, and mad skillz on both sides. He demonstrated this by hitting a monster home run that might have reached Lake Washington (not sure but we heard a splash) and making a Ray Lankford style catch in left field (those that don't know Ray....played for the cardinals and had some of the sickest catches in the outfield). And of course, total team leader, keeping his team's heads in it and motivating them to do their best or at least their underdog best;) Great work out there, Justin!

Hustle, Catch, and Throw!
Hustle, Catch, and Throw!
Heather Munro is one of the best left-folders in the league. Heather routinely makes tough plays in every game, and keeps her team competitive. With Heather in the field no opponent will get easy runs as she, she made an outstanding catch robbing her opponent of extra bases and sent them to the dug-out instead. Keep it up Heather and great plays!

Williamson's Hitting + Fielding = A Vipers Win
The great all around play by Andrew Williamson during a tough match up against the Ninja Pirates, helped his team grab the win. On defense, Andrew covered left field like snow on Rainier, making some great catches. On offense, he earned the nickname RBI machine helping his fellow teammates cross home plate time and time again. This softballer is the REAL DEAL. Look out for his bobble head soon

Rounding Third Claims Starbucks League Title
Big innings ignite Rounding Third
The Starbucks League has long been dominated by Rounding Third and the Aroma Brewers. This season proved no different as both teams cruised into the championship game poised to claim yet another title.
What was to be back-and-forth battle of heavyweights, turned into a one-sided affair that saw Rounding Third claim the 2011 title behind two big innings and stingy defense.
Rounding Third came out strong on defense in the Top of the 1st, as the Brewers were set down in order by Jeff who assisted on all 3 outs from SS.
After a leadoff hit in the bottom of the 1st, Tim scored the first run of the game, but the Brewers came back quickly in the top of the 2nd with 3 runs of their own to make it 3-1.
The Brewers' momentum was quickly squelched, however, as Rounding Third put 6 runs on the board in the bottom of the 2nd. Tommy got the rally going with an RBI triple, then was driven in on the next play by Rhoda.
Rounding Third then held the Brewers scoreless in the 3rd and 4th, including a 1-2-3 inning in the 3rd and a sweet 4-6-3 double play started by Angie in the 4th to end the inning. Looking to build on a 7-3 advantage entering the bottom of the 4th, Rounding Third broke the game open. Erik got things going with a deep homerun to right-center. Tasha followed with a single up the middle and Rounding Third was off to the races. Aided by a barrage of singles, Rounding Third drove in 8 runs in the bottom of the 4th to stretch the lead to 15-3. Rounding Third failed to score again, but they had more than enough. The Brewers scored one in the 5th to make it 15-4, and threatened in the 6th, but the Brewers couldn't put together enough hits to break through Rounding Third's stingy defense.

Exuberant, Rounding Third dawned their "CHAMPS" shirts, gathered for a photo, then headed out on the town to celebrate where thousands of fans had gathered in the streets, waiting to shower their beloved team with congratulations!
Jeff Sets the Tone for Playoffs
Jeff Sets the Tone for Playoffs
Jeff's steady defense and consistent hitting set the tone for Rounding Third, and helped seal the Starbucks League Championship! Team Captain, Tim, said of Jeff, "He made it easy for the rest of us." Jeff played a significant role in holding the Via Vipers to 2 runs in the semifinal and assisted on the first three outs of the championship game, boosting the confidence of his teammates as they pushed on for the championship.
In addition to his slick glovework, Jeff also contributed at the plate, including a solid hit in the 4th inning of the championship game, which helped break open the game for Rounding Third.
Congratulations to Jeff and to Rounding Third!
