Spring Midcore Volleyball at First Baptist Mondays

The championship matchup between Set it and Forget it and Spiked Drinks started out as any other match, but finished in an impressive battle for that winning two point lead. After each going 2-1 in their semifinals match, they were sufficiently warm and ready to dual for the championship title. Games one and two, while full of great rallies and even better saves, were a yawn fest compared to the legendary third game.

The teams walked on the court for game three, each with the confidence that they were going to come away with the victory. From killer spikes to saving digs, both teams proved worthy of a championship. Grant from Set it, used his 6’?” height to his advantage as usual with unblockable hits and spike like blocks. Artem, from Spiked Drinks, answered back with laser kills. Irina (SD) had a number of diving saves that brought a near death ball back into play. The pair of teams brought their A game, complete with hustle and tenacity.

As the score creeped closer to 25, Set it and Spiked Drinks stepped it up 5 more notches. It was a back and forth game of serves and spikes to the very end. Three separate missed serves took a team from game point to giving the opponents a second chance. Countless spikes sent a team into game point only to be answered by a killer spike on the next play. Both teams became more and more energized and scrappy as the score creeped higher and higher. With a final score of 31-29 a championship team was made. Congrats Spiked Drinks on a well-earned first Champs win!!
