Fall Co-ed Kickball at Lower Woodlands Tuesdays

No Glove No Love bounced back after missing the first week of play by playing two games, splitting them with one win and one loss. Despite the result in the latter game, No Glove No Love battled hard and had one of the coolest plays of the season. In the top of the third in their game against Leny's Regulars, it was 0-0. I commented to the lead-off hitter Kris Olsen that a scoreless game after two innings was pretty unusual in kickball. He replied, saying that he was about to change that. Sure enough, Kris kicked a long one into the outfield and sped around the bases for a home-run!

It's hard to argue that Lance Rice wasn't the deciding factor in his team's game Tuesday night. Lance helped his team to a 5-4 victory with two huge HR kicks (and a few RKIs), and good defense, including catching the game- ending while runners in scoring position. All in all a dominant performance.

Hard to chose a POTW this week due to so many standout performances, but for our money, the top performer was Shannon Redington. To be fair, Shannon got an assist from whatever supernatural force was making her opponents pop the ball up to her at 2nd base over and over and over again. Shannon did her part by making every play and then some, though. She caught no less than 5 fly balls, made a few good plays at the bag, and got on base herself a few times. Some nights it's just your night.

This weeks player of the week goes to Chad Markem of "Panda+Rice-Love". Chad played great in his two games at catcher, making lots of outs, and hustling after great bunts. He also kicked the ball well, and was speedy on the bases. But it was his work keeping his teams head up with positive input even at grim moments that earned him player of the week. No matter what happend good or bad he was positive with his team-mates and made the difference in the night with two very tough games to win the Championship! Great job Chad!
