Summer Softcore Kickball in West Seattle Mon/Wed

After his performance today, I wouldn't be the least bit surprised if Zach received a mandatory test for PEDs (don't worry -- we have Richard Sherman's lawyer on speed dial).

Zach utterly dominated throughout his team's double header this Monday. We don't have sabermetric analysis in kickball, but it is safe to estimate Zach accounted for over 40% of blue ballz' defensive outs overall. The highlight of his defensive prowess came on a hard liner into the gap at third, which generated a quick reacting-catch from Zach. Immediately following, Zach pelted a runner at second, who had advanced a little too far off the base path.

Finally, Zach pelted home run after home run, churning offense with a combination of his powerful kicks and baserunning speed. For his indisputable MVP performance, Zach is our player of the week.

When you have a kicking day like Dustin did on Monday, you get everyone standing up and taking notice. Not only did Dustin go a perfect 4-for-4 from the plate, he stepped up with the bases loaded and crushed massive blast to right to clear the bases and rack up a grand slam! Outstanding! Great day at the plate Dustin!

The High Point Hustlers won 1 of the 2 games they played on Monday, dropping their first but winning the second. However, Captain Jessica Powell was a star throughout the day with her defense in the outfield. Jessica tracked down several fly balls in right field, taking away a couple of hits with her impressive range.

Captain John Meyers lead his team to an easy victory on Monday beating the SANtastics 10-6. Meyers was on the mound for the entire game and held the opponents to 2 runs through 6 innings. The losers did add 4 runs in the 7th, but the game was never in doubt.

His team might not have won their playoff matchup, but Andrew S definitely provided the play of the season Monday night. There were two down and a runner on first, a lazy fly ball was hit to Andrew out in center, dropping in front of him. He had the awareness to chuck a laser (think of Ichiro his rookie season in Oakland...) and nail the unsuspecting runner as he was easing into third base. He turned around and ran out towards Andrew to give him a high five, a classic Underdog moment.
