Liesl McWhorter Puts On Free Hitting Clinic
Well the first night of the league is underway and a couple of teams have already separated themselves from the pack. Stranger Danger is the real deal and a tough match for any team in this league. When you can generate 32 runs in 5 innings says to teams that you are for real and are to be taken seriously. Led by the hot bat of Liesl who batted 4 for 4 with 2 triples and only missing the cycle by a homerun, this team turned it up early and often and didn't let up. Very impressive opening night game. Great win and great performance by Liesl.

Offensive Outburst Yields 2 Big Wins
Playing a 6:00/9:00 doubleheader might lead some teams to play conservatively, or to score big one game and slack off the second game. Not the case with Young Gunz. In the first game, the bats were definitely present as the team put up an impressive 35 runs, batting around several times, while giving up only 4 runs.

In the second game, the break between games was evident as the team was slow to get going, down 8-1 early to the excellent Bad Booze Bears. When they finally evened the score, both teams would go back and forth until the very end, when Young Gunz plated the winning run in the bottom of the final inning. That run would be their 23rd of the game, and an amazing 58th of their night.

Hawt Corner
With offensive and defensive breakouts by multiple players, Hawt Corner was in for a good day. Kristin's awesome offensive performance for the day, going 5-5 with 3 RBI helped ensure an important victory for her team, as well as player of the game and player of the week honors. Great Job Kristin!

Slugger Hits Game-Winner in 7th
In an odd game that saw the Bad Booze Bears give up 11 runs in the top of the first, it was surprising that such theatrics would end the game. Mike G had a big game at the plate, and was a key contributor to the Bears' comeback efforts. Once the game was tied in the 4th inning, the next three innings would be a back-and-forth affair.

Cue dramatic music. With the Bears down by one run, they worked to get the bases loaded. Then, with two outs, Mike G sent a long fly ball deep into the night that plated the tying and winning runs.

Pitchers Combine for 5 Scoreless Innings
In an evening defensive affair, it's no surprise that pitchers would be in the middle of displaying their talents. For Hawt Corner, the stars of the night were their two pitchers--Rod & Paul--who rotated the mound duties each inning. The strategy worked, as they combined to throw five scoreless innings, including four straight to start the game. In fact, the only runs of the game for Upper Deckers were unearned, coming on the heals of rare errors by the HC defense.

Congrats to the co-players of the week, two pitchers focused on giving up zero runs.

Stranger Danger
It is often believed that swinging a big stick is the most valuable skill a softball player can posses. The true fact of the matter is defense wins ball games, and with defense like Deaira's it becomes very hard not to win. Teams better think twice before they hit the ball even remotely in her direction.

Total Team Effort In Win
Stranger Danger is in the house and they are looking to make some noise as we approach the playoffs. Yesterday they played inspired and just hammered the softballs into submission. Their agrresive base running, their hot bats and their pitching is a thing of beauty. They are tough and they will not be bullied by any teams in the league. They sent a message loud and clear to ICP that they are the top dogs and they are gunning for a title. Great win Stranger Danger

Bad Booze Bears win it all
Going 4-4 on the day, Molly Johnston's stick caught fire at just the right time. In a winner-take-all game, her offensive performance may have been the difference in this nail-biter . With this win securing the championship for the Bad Booze Bears, it comes as no surprise that Molly Johnston takes home our player of the week honors!
