I'd Hit That tosses Baby Spring Mix to win championship

On a sweltering late afternoon at Lower Woodland Fields, I'd Hit That lived up to its name and cruised to a 12-4 victory over Baby Spring Mix to win the season championship. Jason Pitman and Brad Fuller each hit homers for the IHT crowd.

Said team captain Megan Ching, "This was redemption for us, as those guys were the only team to beat us during the season." De facto captain Joel Nethery started to elaborate on that point but instead collapsed in a heap in the shade. The 95 degree heat sapped the strength of many players on both sides, including the usually-fleet-of-foot Nethery, who managed a leg double only with the help of a dropped catch by Baby Spring Mix's infielder. He did make several slick defensive plays in support of the fine pitching from Kyle Godfrey.

After posting a brief 1-0 lead in the first, Baby Spring Mix fell behind by increments as the game progressed, at one point trailing 10-1 before a late attempt at a comeback with three runs scored in the 6th. Godfrey dismissed the offensive spurt as negligible. "What? We had them all the way. Besides, how many of those runs were earned? Seriously, I can't remember if anyone flubbed a play behind me or not. A lot of us wore the tutu today, was it ever for errors? Wait, who'd we play again? We won, right? I think I'm having heatstroke."
