There aren't many better ways to start off a BTB season than how Charlie Nelson did it. He capped out his first game at 205, and threw in a 190 on the second for good measure. Add in a few Turkeys and take out almost all open frames, then sprinkle lightly with beer and let simmer 2 to 3 hours at a bowling alley, and you have yourself a -uh- recipe for success?
Man, we need some new material.

Spare Me
League officials had many questions for Tim Siwiec on Sunday evening after he put up six consecutive strikes on his way to a 224 game. There seemed to be some sort of foreign substance on the palm of Tim's bowling hand, which was pointed out by the opposing team's guest manager, Tony LaRussa. Tim claimed it was just BBQ sauce from some ribs he had eaten a few days before, but we didn't know what to think. It's under review by the league right now, but for the time being at least, congratulations to Tim and his special sauce.

POTW: Lisa Hackney
Indy #2
Our POTW is Lisa Hackney. After missing the first two weeks, she came back in style. Lisa's specialty is the delayed strike where she knocks nine pins down immediately, turns to walk back to her seat, then flashes a big smile as her teammates cheer when the 10th pin tumbles. Welcome back.

With tears running down his eyes from "that one scene in the breakfast club" where "that one rich girl cries... a lot" Charlie put up two huge (HGH like) games to lead the NW Eyeballers over the intimidating Pink Seagulls. After the game Charlie was in the parking lot lifting a telephone pole that had fallen over in the storm off of a small child ... with one arm. Nice work Charlie.

POTW: Matt Mormino
Big Blue Ballers
In sports we love the cinderella story; the comeback kids, the worst to firsts for inspiration purposes. But for sheer amusement purposes it can be funny when it happens the other way around. Matt Mormino achieved a personal best last night in his first game, bowling six consecutive strikes on his way to a 225. Yes, things were looking up... until he hit his second game, barely breaking a hundred in the last frame. Now, it's not Underdog's bag to take pleasure in our players misfortune, but hey, Matt's a funny guy- we were laughing WITH him, not AT him, as he collapsed face down on the hardwood after his final frame. Besides, we're giving him POTW, so how bad could we be?

Pin Pals
The man to beat Sunday Night was Paul Ng, and folks- it just wasn't going to happen. Paul is always a solid bowler, but definitely turned it on in the playoffs, bowling games of 196 and 194 respectively. Paul rolled so many turkeys that we ran out of things to give him! His last one came in fine style- as an explanation mark to the Pinpals' season- three smooth strikes in the tenth frame of the championship game to put it away. Congratualtions to Paul and the Pinpals on another championship victory!
