Clash of the Titans

Artists Formerly Known As Indy Six came into this season with a tight knit group that was established through Underdog. They had their ups and downs in seasons past but looked to change their fortunes this season. And a change is what happened as Artists Formerly Known As Indy Six swept through the league, going undefeated all the way to the playoffs.

The crazy thing about the Artists Formerly Known As Indy Six, is they didn't even capture the number 1 seed for the playoffs. That belonged to the tough, cohesive Hittin It From The Back. In the playoffs, Artists Formerly Known As Indy Six swept right through the competition to face the battle tested, Hittin It From The Back for the championship title. This is the first time both the teams met as well, and it was going to be a grueling match.

Both teams split the first two sets in close games. The third step was just as hard as both teams were dealing points. Artist Formerly Known As Indy Six got all they could handle from Hittin It From The Back. Someone needed to step up to push this game over the top. Graham was the guy, Mr. Consistent himself showed exactly why he was the best hitter in the league this season. His tall frame and long arms allowed him to hit the ball straight down on Hittin It From The Back. Artist Formerly Known As Indy Six was working as one unit all night. Their communication was key as they covered the holes. Eva and Chase were absolutely genius when it came to setting up their team. Their misdirection sets had everyone confused. What put Artist Formerly Known As Indy Six above and beyond was the fact that every single player on the team were willing defenders. They sacrificed their bodies on digs and jumped at every opportunity to block the opposing attacks. Artist Formerly Known As Indy Six won the championship 2-1.

They proved to be the true number 1 team tonight and look to stay together to make another run at a possible dynasty.

Masters of the Hardwood

The Ruckus had an incredible season going undefeated, putting their stamp on the number 1 seed for the playoffs. They bullied their way to the championship where they faced off against their nemesis, Notorious D.I.G.

The past two seasons on the beach, Notorious D.I.G. had The Ruckus' number. They always met in the championship, but The Ruckus could not put them away. Step on the hardwood, and its a whole other story. The Ruckus was looking for redemption, and redemption they got.

Notorious D.I.G. went up quickly 1-0 leaving The Ruckus with their backs up against the wall. But they did not waiver. They stuck together and played their game. They communicated to one another, they had each other's back, and they flat out just ball'd. The way The Ruckus were rotating around to fill the holes was incredible. They put on a team clinic for other teams to live up to. Their chemistry tonight showed exactly why they are Underdog Champions.

The Ruckus will continue to tune up their game and who knows, maybe a beach championship is not too far away.

Intensity and High Fives!

Every season when the Awkward Palm Trees are involved, you can bet on one thing they bring; passion for the game. This is a group of people that truly love to compete and to compete with each other. The best quality about their attitude is through all of the competitiveness, they are humbled by their friendship to where they only encourage one another.

In the regular season, the Awkward Palm Trees were trying to find their footing, going 2-4. They were able to capture the number 3 seed in the playoffs but needed to clean up their play if they wanted to make a splash in the playoffs. With the burning passion for the game, Awkward Palm Trees got their act together and swept through the playoffs without losing a single set.

In the championship, Awkward Palm Trees were riding high and taking that momentum right against Just The Tip who were taking the whole league by surprise. But the Awkward Palm Trees put a stop to everything very quickly. Led by Graham, Awkward Palm Trees were possessed with his infectious attitude to constantly compete for every ball. Jessica, Lexie and Karen were absolutely phenomenal at getting to the ball. They hustled every single play and all of their hard work paid off. They won hustle points and just out dueled the opposing team. The play of the ladies were the reason why Awkward Palm Trees had such a crazy run in the playoffs. Them men just topped it off with some power hits and tenacious blocks. Awkward Palm Trees won the championship 3-0. And are now going to take that celebration straight to Auto Battery with their $50 coupon.

When you see the Awkward Palm Trees on the schedule next season, be sure to watch! They are a team full of spirit and intensity. They are the team that will make you want to stick around and play some more. Great job!
