Summer Co-ed Softball at Dahl Playfield Tuesdays/Thursdays

This weeks player of the week is Stephen D. for his excellence on the mound in his teams double-header. With the season just getting under way, Stephen had to get into mid-season form in a hurry to face lots of big hitters. Stephen was able to keep the runs to a minimum only allowing a total of 24 runs total for both games, while he helped generate a handful of his squad's 40 runs. With Stephen's great pitching and solid hitting Stephen is this weeks player of the week. Great games Stephen.

Thursday night's game between Soft Balls, Hard Hats and Ice Cold Pitchers was an epic battle that came down to a game winning 2 out triple by Ryan Siok. This game looked like it was going to be a run away in the early innings and things were not looking good for the Ice Cold Pitchers. Then the 5th inning happened and they reeled off 9 runs to pull themselves to within 3 runs. Soft Balls responded with 2 runs of their own to stretch that lead back to five. Ice Cold Pitchers fired back with a 6 run 6th inning taking the lead by 1 run and then Ryan steps to the plate in the top of the 7th with 2 outs. On the first pitch he sees he smokes it to the gap in deep left center clearing the bases getting a stand up triple out of it. Up by three runs going into the bottom of the 7th Ice Cold Pitchers went cold and went down on five pitches to end the game. Nice game Ryan

Ali had a great day at the plate and helped lead St Johns to a thrilling 28-24 victory. Ali went 3-5 with 6 RBIs and 2 2Bs. Great game Ali!

You always hear about command on the mound and holding teams scoreless as a pitcher. You never really get a chance to see someone who can master pitching in a slow pitch game because it's very hard to do. Well, Matt Kim pitched a complete game shut out against Legion Of Boom and again this is very hard to do in slow pitch softball. Mixing up his pitches inside, outside, up high and down low confused Legion Of Boom Batters all game long. They just could not get anything going against him. He also helped his own cause by going 3 for 4 at the plate with a triple and two doubles. He also drove in 4 runs and scored 3 times himself. Awesome game Matt!!
