The Three-Way Champion!
The Three-Way Champion!
It's been a long and sun-filled summer for our Underdog Bowlers, but all were anxious to pile into the window-less Imperial Lanes and dust off their bowling balls and shoes. Teams arrived early to stretch, loosen up and practice for the first big night.

The big game of the night was the three-way match between The Plan, Turkey It Out and Wild Turkey. Wild Turkey was on fire right out of the gate, burning through the frames at super-hero speed. The Plan and Turkey It Out were moving a bit slower, but their pace ended up working to their advantage; for one player in particular. Travis from The Plan started his season strong, bowling a 164 and then a whopping 209 (he was so good, we had to cap his score at 205!). His efforts weren't quite enough to snag a win for The Team, but his skill and energy kept his team going, and they're itching for a win next week. Maybe their sunglasses at Sunglass Night will prove to be the key to their success?

Great job to Travis and to all our Tuesday night teams!

Chix and Stix
Once again the competition was fierce at Imperial Lanes on Tuesday night. The teams arrived early to stretch, warmup and get in some practice throws before the games were to start; and to show off their awesome sunglasses!

Competition was especially fierce between the Wild Turkeys and Chix and Stix. Wild Turkeys did their best to intimidate Chix and Stix; first with their awesome team t-shirts, then with their tinted and polarized sunglasses, and finally with their incredible skills on the wood. At the end of the day though, there was one man that just wouldn't be intimidated. Michael from Chix on Stix set his mind out to win, and no amount of suave or distraction from the Wild Turkeys could sway him from his goal. Michael threw an impressive 176 for his first game, and an incredible 223 (which he magically turned into a 205) during his second game! Chix on Stix ended up winning 4-0 against the Wild Turkeys, and while it was definitely a team effort, Michael made the win look easy.

Matt Acosta
Matt Acosta
Wild Turkey
Tuesday night was a bit of a quiet night at Imperial Lanes. While there wasn't an official spirit night, there were sports jerseys and wigs to be seen...but aside from the spirit that the teams brought, the air was pretty laid back for the evening.

The evening started a bit slow for Matt of Wild Turkey. His game wasn't bad by any means, and the kid did stay consistent! He finished up his first game with seven spares for a total score of 150. Nothing to cry about by any means, but he wasn't quite as happy as he could be; he knew he had it in him to be better. After a mid-game pep talk (and perhaps another round or two of beers), Matt faced the lanes again determined to do better. His second game started off even shakier than his first, but he finished strong! He had a total of five strikes in the second game, and managed to pull off an *almost* turkey in the tenth frame (he got two in the tenth, one in the ninth). His score was 149 for the second game despite his streak of strikes, but he left feeling as though he'd conquered the lanes. Great job Matt, let's see if you can pull it off again next week!

Theme Night - Pajama Night
A rising star...
A rising star...
Always In The Pocket
The night started of strong on Tuesday at Imperial lanes as teams geared up for another week of craziness. A couple teams showed up in pajamas, but their relaxed attire didn't impact their game at all...they all came to play!

This was especially true for Katie Brown of Always In the Pocket. She doesn't see herself as a fiercely competitive bowler, but she sure came out strong on Tuesday night, leading the first three frames of the first game with her FIRST EVER TURKEY!! She tried to replicate it again, and wasn't quite able to do it, but she did finish the first game with a record-high 199. The second game wasn't quite as strong...she tried for another turkey, but wasn't quite successful. She did manage to bowl a Chicken (that's what we call three spares in a row), and did manage to scatter a couple other strikes in there! She finished her second game with a score of 142, thus helping secure a 4-0 win over the Wild Turkeys. Great job Katie, and congratulations on an incredible night!!

Emily Luth
Emily Luth
Wild Turkey
Emily Luth came ready to play with great energy for her team. Not only did Luth display great sportsmanship for her, but she had great sportsmanship against her opponent. She high five other players from the other team when they did a good job, which is why she is the Player of the Week. In addition, Luth had great bowling skills this week by getting three strikes in row. Emily is an inspiring player to watch each and every week!

4 Teams Advance, All Teams Bowl!!!
Chix or Pockets?
After weeks and weeks of anticipation, the night that everyone was waiting for finally arrived--championship night. Four teams arrived to play nine-tap and celebrate their mediocracy (and let me tell you, these guys know how to celebrate and have a great time!). Four other teams, however, came to play and had hopes of walking home with the championship.

Round one of the playoffs saw Chix and Stix meet up against Poppycocks, while Pin Stalkers went head to head with Always in the Pocket. All teams had great games, but only two could advance...Chix and Stix and Always in the Pocket would battle it out for the right to wear the championship wristbands.

The teams fought valiantly, and everyone brought their A-games, but only one team could walk away victorious. Congratulations to Always in the Pocket for their amazing skills and for clinching the title as the Fall Big Turkey Bowling Champions!!
