Spring Gentlemen's Flag Football at Juanita HS Sundays

Usually when the Statdog Committee convenes to decide the Player of the Week, there are cases to be made for many fine players. And while there were a lot of guys who played well on Sunday, Mike Clark made the choice easy. Mike threw for five touchdown passes, and after his team fell behind 40-36 with 21 seconds to go, he decided to go wide and catch a Hail Mary touchdown pass in order to secure the victory. It was a heroic performance by Clark, and the Zack is grateful to have him as their leader.

Kelly was sick out on the field today... sick in a good way... to lead off the game he caught a 30 yard bomb 1 handed and scooted past the defender for a TD. He wasn't done there either... having a superman dive for a TD and a traditional TD catch on the day.. Yes thats 3 TD's. What about defense you ask? Well Kelly decided to add 2 INT's to his game day resume. For a certain call Kelly figured a couple of 2 -2pt conversion catches would work. Great day of football for him, a career for others. Great job Kelly!!!

During the game Javier runs down the field and nobody could pull a flag. It was an amazing run that resulted in a big TD that helped elevate his team. Then Javier went MIA. It was not his game. He really went MIA. I look down the field and he was yelling into a garbage can. OK, he might have been blowing chunks. But he soon came back and did a great job rushing the passer for the remainder of the game. Hope you feel better man.

It looked as if Totem Alum was going to fall as Freeballers quarterback Ryan Bekins heroically led a drive that was thought to be the game winner, as he threw a touchdown pass with 25 seconds on the clock. However, Tim Tang was not going to let his team lose. Before the final drive, Tang had already made a strong case for Player of the Week, as he had caught about 15 passes, and being the go-to-guy for his team throughout the game. But on the final drive, no two catches were more critical than the ones he made. The first got Totem Alum to midfield, and got them out of bounds, stopping the clock. Then after a few incompletions, with three seconds left, Tim's squad was staring defeat in the face. However, on a Hail Mary pass from mid-field, the ball was tipped more than once, and Tang was in the right place at the right time, catching the game winner. It was truly a heartbreak for Freeballers as this is not the first time their season has ended on a long touchdown pass on the final play of a game. But they will most likely rebound, as veteran squads usually do. But as for Tang and Totem Alum, they march on to the semi-finals.
