This weeks player of the week goes to Matthew Gerken starting the season out red-hot. The first pitch in the game Matthew hit a home-run to set a feverish pace that both his team and the opponent kept up with. It was Matthew in the bottom of the 7th that came up big in a tied game 16 all. With the game on the line, and Captain Matthew trying to set a winning example, crossed home plate on a RBI to put his team in the "W" column on the first night. Great job Matthew and great game to both teams!

That's What SHE Said!!
Kyle had a near perfect day both pitching and hitting. His batting line was 5 for 5 hitting for the cycle and several RBI's. Pitching he held the opponent to only 2 hits and he had 2 strikeouts. Kyle's only mistake was two minor errors in the third that led to the only runs given up. Great perfomance all around tonight. He even help his team start three double plays. Great job kyle!!

Parametric
This weeks player of the week goes to the continual improvement of catcher Helen of Parametric. In week one there was not a thought of getting in the mix, but in week two she was firing balls back to the pitcher, and making nice stops on balls thrown her way. In the matters box she poses a very food quality of swinging at anything, and I mean anything. The ball could roll over the plate and she will make a soils swing at it. She also incorporated another aspect to her hitting as well, and that is base running. Keep it up Helen, you should be an all star by the end of the season!!

The evening began with a trumpet solo and finished with a doubleheader sweep by the Confident 7's, led by Alyssa Gritton. Fresh out of the farm system, Alyssa went 7-8 and led her team on an offensive onslaught of 50 runs in two games. "I just wanted to go up there and have good at-bats" she said to Root Sports after the game. "I was seeing the ball real well out of the pitcher's hand and I was able to stay inside the ball and drive it. Most of all, I'm glad we got two wins against quality teams tonight."
Congratulations to Alyssa and the Confident 7's!

Amazing catch and solid bat
With her team having a double header Trisha new her time to shine would be tonight. Going 3 for 3 in the first game Trisha went 4 for 4 the second game. For most people that would have been enough, but Trisha put on a fielding clinic as well. She made this one sliding catch that left the other teams batter stand at home plate and say "WOW" 5 times... Great job Trisha keep it up!!!

J. Chee has a great game
June Chee is exactly what Underdog Sports is about. This young lady comes out and get her first two hits of her softball career in front of her mother watching from the stands. She is jumping for joy, and excited to be a part of the fun. Her excitement carried over to her whole team. Great Job June!!

Player of the Week
Player of the Week
This week's player of the week is Peggy Itschner from That's What SHE Said!! Peggy went 1-4 at the plate, and was incredible behind the plate on defense! In the 3rd inning with the score tied and a runner on 2nd, Take It Off hit a single to right field and tried to score the runner. Joss threw to home and Peggy made a great one-hop catch, then dove back across the plate to tag out the runner to end the inning. Then, in the 5th inning, Peggy continued her brilliant play at home. With a runner on 2nd, Take It Off hit a single to right field. Again, Joss made a strong throw, but it was up the 3rd base line. Peggy made an incredible catch, then had the presence of mind to reach back and make a rally-killing tag to preserve the lead. That's What SHE Said!! would later add to their lead and go on to win in a low scoring affair. Great job Peggy, and a great win for That's What SHE Said!!

Mr. Clutch
Mr. Clutch
This week's player of the week is Joe Weisser. Joe supplied the offensive firepower Take It Off needed as he connected for 2 homeruns and 5 of his team's 10 RBI. While both teams were struggling to hit and score consistently, Joe had no such problem. Every run was critical in this game, which Take It Off won 10-9, and Joe took full advantage of his plate appearances with runners on base. In short, Joe was Mr. Clutch! Congratulations to Joe and to Take It Off for a game well played!

This weeks player of the week goes to Bryan Hutton and the batting expedition he put on. Bryan accounted for a large portion of his teams runs by hitting, I mean launching the softball. Bryan had 3 dingers in the game, and possibly suffered from a side-ache from the amount of running that ensued on the bases. Great job Bryan!

Confirmed! That IS What She Said!
Timely Hitting and Strong Defense Decides Championship
It was bedlam moments after Jesse started the 6-3 double play to end the game as security couldn't hold the fans back as they rushed the field to hoist their heroes on their shoulders! After a long, grueling season, That's What SHE Said!! is league champion, finishing off an undefeated season with a strong run through the playoffs.
In the semifinal, That's What SHE Said!! blew past Don't Come On My Base 21-8 and entered the championship game on a roll.
The Championship was set to be a classic, as That's What SHE Said!! was facing the Confident 7's, a team they had beaten by only one run earlier in the season. It turned out to be just that, as both teams went back and forth the whole game.
After surrendering a run in the top of the first, That's What SHE Said!! responded with 4 in the bottom of the first, ignited by an RBI single up the middle by Trisha.
After allowing the Confident 7's back within a run, Spencer made a leaping grab at SS to hold the 7's scoreless in the top of the 3rd. That's when Trisha came calling again, as she smacked an RBI single down the LF line to extend the lead to 6-3.
Again, the 7's creeped back in the top of the 4th, bringing it to within one, but in the bottom of the 4th, Mark came up huge with a 2-out, RBI single to make it 7-5.
In the top of the 6th, the 7's again brought the game back within one run at 8-7, but that's when the bats heated up. After working the bases loaded with one out, Jesse started an epic rally that broke the game open. Jesse started a string of 5 consecutive bases loaded singles. He was followed by Spencer, Trisha, Todd, and Nick. By the end of the rally, 7 runs had scored, and a seemingly insurmountable 15-7 lead was taken into the top of the 7th.
Never relenting, the 7's quickly got runners on 1st and 2nd with one out, as they looked poised to start a rally. However, the rally ended just as quickly as it began when a sharply hit ball found it's way to Jesse, who stepped on 2nd and threw on to 1st to end the inning, end the game, and seal the championship!
When presented the coveted Underdog "CHAMPS" shirts, Kyle kissed the bag and when asked what they're going to do now that they are league champions, they shouted, "We're going to Kathy's!"

Congratulations to That's What SHE Said!! on an undefeated, League Championship season!
Dominance on the Mound
Dominance on the Mound
The player of the week for the last two rounds of the playoffs is Andrew McCord! Facing a lineup filled with hard-hitting sluggers, Andrew brought his A game and shut down the Confident 7's, holding them to only 7 runs. In addition to his nasty stuff on the mound, Andrew fielded his position extremely well, making several quick plays off the mound to keep runners off base. At the plate, he was just as effective, as he was the only player to have an extra base hit for That's What SHE Said!! Andrew's clutch performance at the plate and on the mound led his team to the championship!
Congratulations to Andrew and That's What SHE Said!!
