Walk OFF
Walk OFF
In a game that looked bleak for Flowers By Irene, they were able to mount a great comeback to make it look a lot closer then it was, but they took it a step further. Blake Brotherton of Flowers had all the pressure on him in the bottom of the 7th with 2 outs and the game now on the line. With the bases loaded Blake was able to kick a deep shot, clearing the bases and made himself the winning run with a walk off Grand-slam! Great job Blake!

Walk-Off
Walk-Off
Ryan T. is this weeks player of the week for his heroics down the stretch in a game that looked out of reach. The team deserves lots of praise for their play as well as they struggled early and were down a lot of runs. The unit stuck together and put together a rally that put the team in range, and Ryan did the rest on his own kicking a 3 run homer in the bottom of the 7th with two outs putting his team in the win column in a terrific comeback! Great game to the whole team!

Defense Wins Games
Defense Wins Games
Defense in the field, consistancy at the plate
Its pretty well known that if you score, you may win. But if they never score, you will always win. That was a motto that CJ Goodman lived by. In a game that saw the lead change several times it came down to defense to secure the win for Flowers By Irene. CJ made at least two sliding or diving catches in the field. He also had a couple nice kicks to help his team produce runs. Good job CJ!

Tooted It and Booted The Opponent.
Tooted It and Booted The Opponent.
Amanda started off strong and ended even stronger. She played magnificent. With Toot It and Boot It already with a firm lead Amanda kicked a 3 run homerun. She had 1.000 base percentage without a single bump attempt. That's some impressive stuff. The Indy team just didn't have an answer for her. Thanks for having great sportsmanship Toot It and Boot It and making it fun with the music, and a special great job to Amanda. Great game.

POTW: Joe Hooper
The Walk Off
"Flowers By Irene" trailed most of the game but came back to within 1 run heading into the bottom of the 7th inning. With runners on 1st and 2nd Joe Hooper confidently stepped up to the plate and absolutely crushed the ball into left field. The defense was unable to make a play and the runners booked it around the bases for two scores. Joe won the game for his team with a walk-off 2 RBI Double and that's why he is our Player of the Week. Nice work!

POTW: Blake Brotherton
POTW: Blake Brotherton
If you're looking for the biggest power kicker of this league then look no further than Blake Brotherton of "Flowers by Irene." I actually felt sorry for the kickballs as I watched Blake completely crush them kick after kick. He went Four-for-Four in the game with three triples, all of which were within feet of bonefied out-of-the-park Home Runs--a rare feat in Kickball. My advice to other teams...back up...further...further...there ya go. Congrats Blake you're our Player of the week.!

POTW: Emily Newcomer
POTW: Emily Newcomer
Despite her team losing Emily Newcomer played a great game at third base. She started out strong with a nearly impossible catch on a blazing line drive. Then she followed that up with a bunch more outs including a heads up play to nab a player who had run home without tagging up. On offense Emily's production was top notch, accounting for a third of her team's runs. Add it all up and you have our Player of the Week. Congrats Emily!

POTW: Sparky O'Rourke
Great games bring out great players. This adage definitely proved true last Monday in the case of Brian "Sparky" O'Rourke in the epic game between his team "Recess Renegades" and "That's What Ashley Said." Both teams played awesome, but Sparky's play was the tipping point that led to his team's comeback victory in the bottom of the last inning. With seemingly impossible catches on defense combined with his impressive kicks on offense Sparky is more than deserving of Player of the Week honors. Congrats senor!

Derek Wentorf
This week's Player of the Week award goes to Derek Wentorf of the "Philanthro-kicks." Derek has a been a consistent force for his team all season long. On offense he has a knack for finding the gaps with his kicking, but ask anyone and they will tell you that he is even better on defense. Derek is all over the outfield with superior speed and soft hands. He has that rare ability to somehow make the hard catches look effortless. Considering his impressive play last Wednesday and his whole body of work this season Derek is well-deserving as our Player of the Week. Congratulations Derek!

Comeback for the ages!
Things were looking pretty bleak for "The Raindawgs" after the opposing team scored 10 runs in the first two innings. Slowly but surely they were able to claw their way back into the game until they were only down by 3 going into the bottom of the seventh inning. Their boots were hot and they were able to score a run and load up the bases for Joey Timmons, aka. J. T. Money. Battered and bloody from his courageous defense he coolly stepped up to the plate and crushed the ball out to right field clearing the bases for a walk-off triple. I guess we know how he got his nickname. Congrats J. T. Money you're our Player of the Week!

Pitching With No Fear
Lindsay and The Toe Party came out and played with great sportsmanship and made everyone laugh. Lindsay pitched not one but 2 straight games. She was poised as she rolled ball after ball, sometimes the ball barely making across the plate but that was the game plan. She had a few kickers baffled on how slow it wad coming. All you could do was stand there and laugh. Thank you Toe Party for a great games and making it fun for all. Including the dance moves.

POTW: Chad Jaffe
Te ball is bunted and all you see is a blur. That blur swoops up the ball and is right beside the kicker tagging them out. That blur was Chad Jaffe. Chad was like a sprinter out of the gate, flying down the firstbase line. Chad also had some nice kicks that brought people home and gave his teammates the opportunity to bring him home. The Flash better watch his back because Chad might be right behind him. Great job Chad!

POTW: Nik Xaylavong
The Philanthro-kicks saved the best for last, or he just showed up after everyone else, either way Nik Xaylavong ended up being the best thing for their team. The Philanthro-kicks went up early then struggled to hold on to the lead later in the game. With the score tied at the end of regulation, we went to extra innings. The Philanthro-kicks held the SLUTS scoreless in their half of the inning then in their half of the inning loaded the bases. That's when Nik came to the plate and booted a sac fly to deep center allowing his teammate to cross home safely for the win. Nik knows how to be a team player. Great job Nik!

An inside the park homerun is difficult to achieve. Its even more difficult to get 2, but don't tell Brady Flynn that. He seemed to know just where to put the ball in order to touch em all. He was flying around the bases. He also pitched a shutout game on the mound. Great job Brady!

Clutch Championship Clinching kick
It was the bottom of the last inning of the championship game when Sharat Reddy stepped up to the plate with two outs and the bases loaded. Recess Renegades needed one more run to win the game. The pitch was right down the pipe and with the pressure on Sharat booted an RBI single right in between the teeth of the opposing teams defense. For his incredibly clutch kick to win the championship for his team, Sharat is our Player of the Week. Congratulations Sharat!
