Summer Softcore Kickball in Ravenna Tuesdays/Thursdays

Heather C earns this week's Player of the Week award for putting her body on the line for the team in the first game. A real force to be reckoned with, she had some nice hits and scored a few runs in her team's doubleheader. But her real prowess showed on the defensive side, as she ranged a great distance to make a catch, only to have her feet give out from under her and slip right as she was going to make the catch. Everyone had a good laugh, Heather especially, as we kept on playing. She made it up later in the game as she reeled in a few nice catches in deep left field.

This one goes out to Laura who just got engaged. Best wishes to her and her better half. Just wanted to give a special shout out to her this week from us here at Underdog. We like to support our players off the field just as much as we do on. So happy for you and wish you many happy days ahead. She also had a stellar performance on the field. Making several key defensive plays and batting a 1000 at the plate.

Despite playing a double header, Andrew pulled his team to a huge first inning lead that his team kept for the remainder of the game. He led the team off with a double and a triple, knocking in two runs in the process. It was a good thing he started so well, because his man bunt later in the game prevented Rolling Balls from scoring a couple more runs! Regardless, Andrew's efforts pushed his team to victory. Great job Andrew!

Andrew Donaldson from Pitch Please has earned player of the week honors! Andrew had great kicks on the offensive side of the ball, but where he really shined was on defense at catcher and third base. From both positions Andrew showed of the gun of an arm he has and even threw out a runner from third base! After this game some might see a relationship with Josh Donaldson from the Blue Jays and Andrew might be looking for that ten day contract.

The player of the week honors for this week of kickball will go to Keaton Burke of Rolling Balls. Keaton caught six lineouts and they came at different positions in the field. Keaton seemed to be everywhere making a catch and his sure hands proved to be crucial as his team ended up winning by one run. Going into the playoffs Rolling Ball will need to have the same stingy defense if they want to make a championship run.

James had a great day at the park today. He played great defense all day, making a couple really nice plays and all the routine opportunities he had as well. Offensively he was 2-2"and scored 2 runs. He really played a great all around game and was a big reason why Pitch Please! won their game.
