Spring Co-ed Softball on Capitol Hill Wednesdays

As a society obsessed with dunks, touchdowns and homeruns, we tend to overlook the moments that truly define a game and Wednesday night certainly had its spotlight moments: playing on a turf surface with wild gusts of wind players were circling the bases like a merry-go-round with their monster, yet over-rated homeruns. However, it was the defensive play of Blair Cuny from team We Got the Runs! that defined and truly made this Wednesday spectacular. How often does one witness a 5-3-2 double play? Miss Cuny's supporting cast definitely deserve their credit, but the award for Player of the Week is awarded to Blair because of her heads up awareness and athletic ability to deliver a perfect strike to the catcher in a bang-bang pressure involved play and complete the rare tri-fecta! Phenomenal job Blair!!!

Tyler was on fire on Wednesday night belting two deep base clearing bombs to help pad an already big lead against PB Elemental. He also tripled and had a beautiful lay out defensive play in center field that's sure to make the sport center top 10. Great preformance Tyler.

Evan had a monster night at the plate on Wednesday night against Here for the Beer. He batted 4 for 4 with a home run blast, 2 triples and a double. Made some incredible plays in the outfield to help hold Here for the Beer to 18 runs. If not for the game ending catch Here for the Beer would have tied the game up and possibly won. Great game Evan!!

Riding her bike to the game uphill, in a driving rain, Jolene's back tire went flat. Undeterred, she braved the elements, pushing on toward the ultimate goal: a chance to play softball at the West Queen Anne Playfield. Though she arrived late to the game, she arrived just in time to provide the inspiration her team needed to win the game. Not only did her perseverance and dedication inspire her team, her stellar work at the plate led the charge as she went 3-5 in her team's 25-7 victory. Congratulations to the Master Batters and Jolene on a great game!

This weeks player of the game goes to Ben Tobin for an outstanding performance on the mound pitching and helping his own cause by going 3 for 3 with two triples, 2 doubles and 3 runs batted in. Ben recorded 10 defensive outs on his own during the game and holding Responsible Kidz to 5 runs total. Awesome job Ben!!
