Seawalks bring out big bats, narrowly win with walk-off
Facing a tough offensive superpower, defense comes through when they need it the most.

If you were the Seawalks and you got to Dahl field early on Thursday, you'd probably be a little worried after watching the Young Gunz put up 30 runs (including 10 in the top of the 7th!) in the semifinal game. The Young Gunz put up a ton of runs, and did so by hitting the ball to all parts of the ballpark. It set up what was a classic championship game in a rematch from a close game earlier in the season.

The Young Gunz jumped out to an early 5-0 lead in the first inning, the Seawalks knew they needed everyone to play perfectly if they were going to come out as champs. It took an 8 run third inning to finally give the Seawalks the lead, 14-12, however it was countered by an 8 run inning of Young Gunz' own, giving them a 20-12 lead heading into the bottom of the 4th. The Seawalks countered with 5, and as we headed into the final inning of regulation, the Young Gunz held on to a 20-19 lead. The Seawalks needed a quick scoreless inning, something no one had been able to hold the Young Gunz to all evening. They got the scoreless inning, thanks to some timely defense from the infield, and the Seawalks headed into the bottom of the last inning trailing by just a run. Up stepped Cullen, who drilled a ball deep to right center field and raced around the bases to tie the game. Eugene was next up, lacing a hustle double to center field to set up the winning opportunity. Lindsay came to the plate, not feeling any pressure, and nailed a ball to left field to score the winning run without a throw. It was a great back and forth game between two offensive powerhouses, and a victory well deserved by the Seawalks.
