They are back at it again and they are coming to capture another league title. Soft Balls, Hard Bats are looking stronger than ever and they are very serious about ruling this league. Led by, Megan, Pat, Matt, Frankie, Kenny, Delano, Kristen, Emily, Larney and the rest of the bunch, they ripped off thirty one runs over six innings and made it look rather easy. They have clearly established themselves as the team to beat and all teams that face them had better be on the A game. Pat Batted 4 for 4 with a triple and 3 doubles while driving in 7 runs and scoring 3 runs himself. Great game Pat and great win for SBHB.
Thursday night''s game between Pitch Slap and Balls and Dolls was an explosion of hitting and skillful defensive play on both teams parts. They battled inning for inning and it came down to the run production of one person. Leonard McKinnon went off at the plate. He batted 4 for 4 with a Grand Slam, a 3 run bomb, a triple and a double. Also showed off the Gold Glove skills out in left field. He was responsible for 7 of 12 runs generated by Pitch Slap. Great game Leonard and great win Pitch Slap.
The team that is Soft Balls, Hard Bats was at it again Tuesday night squaring off with the Bad News Bears and they made it look too easy. Their consistent ability to generate offense every single inning is why they are the top dogs and definitely the team to beat. The road to the title will go through Soft Balls, Hard Bats. They average about five runs every inning and if you do the math on that over a period of 6 innings that tells you all that you need to know. They are on fire and playing very inspiring softball and at a very high level. The team as a whole has a chemistry that most league teams do not have and it's quite evident when they start hitting and feeding off of one another. They play for each other each time out and they take care of each other and that's where they are different. I can't say enough about this team and what they have accomplished. I smell dynasty.
Balls and Dolls are looking strong these days thanks to some awesome pitching and some lights out defense. On Thursday night they ran over the Upper Deckers with shear power and finesse and made it look rather easy. Powered by their bats and the pitching of Melissa, this teams is looking to make some noise and will take on all comers. Great game Balls and Dolls and great performance Melissa.
What an outstanding performance, birthday boy! Josh earns this week's Player of the Week for going 3-4 with 2 HRs and a double, and on his special 41st birthday. He's looking better at 41 than most do at 25. Congrats Josh!
St. Johns keeps rolling right along. They got back to their winning ways on Thursday night against Taco Corp scoring a combined 23 runs over 6 innings worth of plate appearances. Led by Erin who was on absolute fire and has been for the past few games, their batting attack was way too much for Taco Corp to handle. They have established themselves in USL as a heavy weight and a team that is always gonna bring it every time out. They have power, they have speed not to mention a defense that's damn near impenetrable. All league teams beware and please show up with your A game. If you show up without it the umpire will allow you a few minutes to go and retrieve it. Great game Erin and great win St John's.
Soft Balls and Hard Bats got back to their winning ways on Tuesday night against the Upper Deckers. Scoring a total of 27 runs over six innings, this team is a dynasty in the making in the Lower Woodlands fall leagues. Everyone knows that the Lower Woodlands fall leagues are the most competitive in the city and only the big dogs come out during this time of the year to try and establish themselves as the king of the LW fall league mountain. There are quite a few high quality teams and quite a bit of quality softball being played every single night and Soft Balls, Hard Bats is right in the thick of it. They can thrown down with anybody and if you don't bring your A game against these guys it's going to be a very long night for you. Great game and the streak continues!!
Orange Crush got back to their winning ways on Thursday night against Dream Crushers. Giving up only 5 runs total over seven innings is a hard task but Orange Crush made it look easy with some very tight defense and hustle. Nick batted 3 for 4 with a double, 2 singles and also batted in 5 runs to lead the charge. Great game OC and great game Nick!
The Bad News Bears found themselves in a deep hole against the Dream Crushers on Tuesday night and with time running out the end seemed inevitable. Suddenly their bats awakened in the 4th, 5th and 6th innings and the rest is history. Behind a key hit by Kelly Goetz, the flood gates opened and before you knew it the Bears carried a 3 run lead into the top half of the 7th. After 3 straight outs, game over, good night and drive safe.
St. Johns is continuing to roll right into the playoffs and on a strong note with a 20 -6 win over the Upper Deckers on Thursday night. As usual their defense was air tight, their bats were hot and their pitching is solid. I look for this team to make some noise in the playoffs and when they bring their A games, they are very hard to contend with. Great game St. Johns and we will see you soon in the playoffs.
Soft Balls and Hard Bats continued their quest for another league title on Tuesday night squaring off with always tough Balls and Dolls. In the end it was the sheer offensive power that this team possesses and the fact that they are very hard to beat on defense. They reeled of 23 runs over 6 innings which is below average for them considering that they were averaging about 7 runs per inning. Still they dominated hands down and it's going to be interesting as we get closer to the championship game. It promises to be a barn burner. Great game SBHS!
St. Johns is on the march and they are looking stronger each game played. They are solid on defense, their pitching is crazy good and their bats are in the "on" position. They faced off against a very tough Dream Crushers team who had high hopes of continuing their run and crushing the dreams of opposing teams. It was not meant to be. Early on Dream Crushers put up a great fight but in the end it was the superior firepower of St. Johns bats that sealed the deal. Great game and we look forward to seeing you guys in the title game.
Softballs and Hard Bats have done it again knocking off the Bad News Bears who earlier knocked off number one seeded St. Johns. From the start it was the defense that held serve against the big bats of the Bad News Bears eventually holding them to 3 runs over seven long innings. Their defense did bend at at times but in the end it did not break allowing SBHB to focus on offense and pulling ahead in the game and keeping that lead. Congratulations to SBHB for yet another league title.
