Beach Volleyball | Late Summer Co-ed Beach Volleyball at Golden Gardens Tuesdays

At approximately 8:15 pm on 7/9/13 Kyle Shoun, of the team Baby Brontasaurus', injured his ankle while diving for the ball. This was a pre-exhisting injury. I, Britni Chabot, did not witness the injury as it happened because my attention was directed to another court at the time. I did see Kyle limping off-court and asked if he was okay. He said he re-injured his ankle. I offered him an ice pack and happened to have beach towels with me today so I let him use those to elevate his ankle as well. I sat with Kyle to fill out an injury report, asking how his injury happened. He said he had originally hurt his ankle by hyper-extending it on some stairs and keeps re-injuring it, especially in the sand. Because the sand is not stable, he turns his ankle in odd directions which irritate his injury. Today he did it while diving for the ball. I asked if there was a hole or anything on the court that could have promoted this injury and he said "no," and that it is just because the sand is unstable. This happened on Court #2 at Golden Gardens.
