POTW: Matt Jennings

Lazor Beamers

What a week! Imagine if you will not one, not two, but THREE games with multiple runs scored, decided by one run a piece in the final inning! YOWZA! With this kind of action, you know it would be hard to pick a POG, but it looks like this week's honors will go to Matt Jennings from the Lazor Beamers. Matt had a solid game in general, but his clutch game winning RKI took the cake. The Lazor Beamers and Oz Kickers had a close one for sure, with multiple lead changes throughout. First, the Beamers pulled ahead in the bottom of the 6th, with a chance at closing it out with three outs in the top of the 7th. They got two, but the Oz Kickers had their own heroics, coming back and actually taking the lead into the bottom half of the inning. Now it was the Lazor Beamers who found themselves one out away from a loss. But there was Matt, booting in two runs to give the Beamers their second come from behind last minute win of the season.

POTW: Ken Maxey

Lazor Beamers

How do you make a debut in Underdog Kickball, when your team starts a week later than everyone else. Ask Kenji Maxey. His Lazor Beamers made a great comeback against the Turbo Turtles to force extra innings in their first ever UD game. They held the Turtles scoreless in the top of the 8th, and loaded up the bases with two outs in the bottom when Kenji came up to kick. After what looked like the game-winning kick was called back due to Kenji stepping out in front of the plate, the pressure was on. Hero or goat? Kenji blooped a single on his next kick, knocking in the run, and sealing the walk-off victory. Welcome to the game, Kenji.
