After running through the rest of the competition in the regular season Heavy Setters and SMASH squared off for the second time in the season and for the second week in a row, put together a classic. Heavy Setters had picked up the victory in the last week of the regular season and SMASH was primed to get their revenge and pick up the title.
The match was close and competitive the whole time, with Heavy Setters squeaking out a 27-25 win in the first game that could have gone either way. SMASH answered in the second game and looked to be picking up the momentum as they held Heavy Setters to just 18 points.
The 2nd game comeback must have sapped all of the energy out of SMASH though as they struggled to keep up the the Heavy Setters, who seemed to be catching every bounce of the ball. Heavy Setters finished off the match and their championship with a 25-9 win.
Awesome job Nathan Beeler for putting in his A-game! He did such a great job with supporting his team and helping them with crazy saves and sweet hits. Nathan's a rockstar/Player of the Week!!
Holy serving streak batman! This girl was absolutely unstoppable with her serving. Balls in Yo' Face didn't know what to do with her serves. She kept pushing them and they kept shanking...When they finally got a side out there was a huge sigh of relief. Heavy Setters' opponents next week better start practicing now!!
Nice job Bill! You're the player of the week for coming out and never giving up! Way to keep the ball in the air and encouraging your teammates to stay upbeat! Awesome job, and Underdog looks forward to seeing more of your great skills!
