Things were not looking up for the Bad News Beers. Despite scoring 3 runs in the top of the first, the short-handed Beers gave up 4, and the early lead, in the bottom of the frame. However, a combination of team defense and self-sacrifice on offense helped them score a run in each of the next four innings while keeping their opponent scoreless. By the time Fluke Yeah broke the drought with a run in the bottom of the sixth, the damage was done, and Bad News held on for an 8-5 victory.
Tyler put together quite the performance just when his team needed him.
He was all over the place on defense, covering the entire center of the field.
And he continued his kicking streak with a couple more clutch hits to help his Beers team move on to the Softcore Final.
In by far the most dry game of the day Bad News Beers took on Clubbabyseals in the last game. This match went down to the wire with Bad News Beers stepping into the bottom of the final inning down by 4 runs. They battled back to tie the game up and then it was Nick Thompson who had provided a big boot earlier in the game stepping to the plate. Nick drove a wicked shot deep into center field and hit hard enough to give the center fielder fits as the winning run scored in 'walk off' fashion. Congrats to Nick Thompson of Bad News Beers for Player of the Week!!!
