Notes

First Place

Summer Co-ed Softball on Capitol Hill Tuesdays/Thursdays

Sportin' Jorts is your Midcore Champions, taking down I'd Hit That in a comeback thriller at Bobby Morris. In a tense, low-scoring game, I'd Hit that slowly built up a 7-1, and then a 10-4 lead. In their first game they had beaten the Upper Deckers by 24 runs, and it seemed as though that momentum would carry them past the Sportin Jorts.

The Jorts had other plans, however, and calmly put together a 7-run fifth inning to capture their first lead of the night. Those runs wound up being the last of the contest, as each team traded blank innings through to the end of the game. Big hits from Mike W, including a blast to the trees, and a steady pitching performance by James P. were critical in allowing the Jorts to gain and maintain the lead.

It wasn't an offensive slugfest, but it was tight and action packed. The Jorts looked good with their new Champs headbands, and vowed to return and defend their title.

Mike Wilson

Sportin Jorts

Mike Wilson had a great night for the Sportin Jorts in their quest for a Capitol Hill championship, playing lights-out ball all night and coming through big when his team needed him. He had 2 big hits on the night, one a home run that sailed into the left field trees. Runs were at a premium that night, and Mike's wound up the difference in a 1-run ballgame.

Mike Wilson, Player of the Week and Underdog Champion!

Sportin Jorts Playing Great Ball

The "Jorts" Hold The Key

Sportin Jorts are looking stronger than ever as we approach the playoffs and the Jorts have a great deal to do with that. When the Jorts come out, the energy level rises immediately. It's like they're unicorn magical and provide that needed edge to power through opponents. On Thursday night they absolutely powered through Leafly and made a grand statement. They are not to be taken lightly so do not forget to take your hustle pill and do not forget to bring your A game. If you do then you are in for a long evening. This team is the real deal and accepts all challenges. Great game and great win SJ.

Emily Sherry

Sportin Jorts

Emily played great defense and locked down right field all day. Anything hit in her direction ended up in her glove as if drawn there magnetically. Along with the defense she had a couple mice hits on offense and ends up scoring a run. She was able to keep her team up too, even through their tough seventh inning that saw their opponents score five to make the game somewhat of a nail biter. She had a great day all around and this is why she's the player of the week.

Sportin Jorts Gets Off To Good Start

Hold Off PBC Late

Well, the Jorts are in full effect and were on display last night with Sportin Jorts holding off powerhouse PBC late to get their first win of the season. The Jorts seem to be magical at times allowing the wearer to make outstanding ESPN top 10 like plays. Their defense was tested often and early but they held strong, responded in kind and as a result get their first win of the season. Their bats are hot, they always take their hustle pills and always looking to mix it up with the top teams. They fear no one and no team and when you get in the ring with them you will understand. Great game and great first win!
