Summer Co-ed Softball at Greenlake Sundays

In the 2nd game of the day it was Find The Holes squaring off against Here For The Beer. Find the Holes jumped out to an early lead since Here For The Beer was still dealing with the aftermath of an apparently great Saturday night, go figure. Having built a nice 5 run cushion going into the final inning, Find The Holes liked there chances of taking home a victory. But Here For The Beer wasn't ready to give up just yet.....clawing back and putting 4 runs on the board. With 2 outs recorded, a 1 run lead and trying to keep the tying run at 3rd base, Find The Holes was ready to snuff out this attempted comeback. As the batter hit a screamer up the middle for a nearly certain extra-bases hit, Find The Holes' own Angela Sze made an unbelievably brilliant back handed stop, whirled around as her momentum carried her towards 2nd base and fired an off balance bullet to 1st base for the 3rd and decisive out! Congratulations to Find The Holes on a great 11-10 victory and to Angela Sze for her jaw-dropping game saving defensive play to earn her Player Of The Week!!!

The 3pm game on Field 2 at Greenlake provided one of the most entertaining games of the day as Here For The Beer squared off versus /r/Seattle! /r/Seattle jumped out to a 5-0 lead by the 4th inning and looked to be cruising to victory. But not so fast....Here For The Beer was just waking up as they pulled to an even 5-5 tie by the end of the 6th! /r/Seattle tacked on a run in the top of the 7th, but then Here For The Beer came back again to tie it up. With the prospect of a tie looming, Here For The Beer's own Brett Lee stepped to the plate and laced a shot into the outfield to drive in his teammate to score the winning run!! Brett Lee is this week's Player Of The Week for coming up big by hitting the walk-off game winning rbi when it mattered most. Congrats to Here For The Beer on their dramatic come from behind 5-4 victory!

In the 1:30 game on Field 2 it was Here For The Beer squaring off against Booze On 1st. Looking at this match-up on paper one would think that these are just two casual 'beer league' teams out for a little relaxing fun on Sunday after too much fun on Saturday night. Nothing could be further from the truth as both of these teams brought their game faces for the chance to move on in the playoffs. In the end it was Here For The Beer's own Megan Clark that proved to be the difference maker on and off the field. In a tightly contested game, Megan crushed a game deciding double driving in 2 rbi's to give her team all the cushion they needed to take home the win. So what does Megan do for an encore after winning the game with one stroke of her bat? Oh, just plan a wedding later that afternoon....all in a relaxing Sunday's work for our Player of the Week, Megan Clark. Congrats on an impressive victory in the Playoffs!
