Lucky Strikes
At the beautiful Leilani Lanes in sunny northern Seattle, the opening night of the early fall Big Turkey Bowling Thursday league started with a crash, a crash of bowling pins that is. Most teams were still discovering their sea legs this first night, most teams except for teams Lucky Strike and E & A, who just happened to be pitted against each other. These two well prepared teams battled all night, but in the end Lucky Strike left with the league points and bragging rights as they won by 15 pins. This small difference in pins was due in to small part to Rob Howard. Rob was the teams leading scorer in both games with a total 357 pins and a consistent 178 pin per game average. Rob also knocked down a three strike Big Turkey in the first game to set the tone for the season, a little like the way a leadoff batter sets the tone in the opening game for the baseball season. Speaking of his success and preparation for the season, Rob said, "the hours of cross training and strict dietary regiment that or captain Amy makes us follow sure has paid off. Hey they don't test for performance enhancing drugs in this league do they, I'm not here to talk about the past." While we aren't sure what Rob was talking about, we still commend his performance and look forward to a fun and exciting season.

Indy Team #1
After devising a devastatingly intimidating name, Indy #1, now Pin Annihilators, cruzed into week two of the Thursday Early Fall Big Turkey Bowling at Leilani Lanes with a sweep of team Browntown. The upstart of this team is due in large part to its star, one Kim Zigich. In the two games against Browntown, Kim averaged 155 pins, for a total of 310 pins. If that wasn't stealer enough, at one point Kim struck down five strikes in a row almost as quick as Dave Chappell left the country. When I asked Kim the secret to her success, she told me, "It's all in the wrist," then flexed her bulging forearm in the direction of The Forearm of Justice, whose team picture is of a flexed forearm muscle. In this humble reporter's opinion, I think Kim could teach a thing or two to the team Justice. Great job Kim.

Lucky Strikes
While Donnie and Dave had "off" nights Rob LaRubbio had a strong outing posting double 205s. With great players like Rob, The Lucky Strikes appear to be the favorites to take the early fall title. Even with all the Red Hook they are consuming, their scores never seem to suffer.

E&A
With scores of 194 and 200 it was tough not to give Player Of The Week honors to Julian Burger. Not only did he lead his team to a resounding victory over The Forearm of Justice, he got a fifth strike in a row for his team clinching a round of free beers courtesy of the Statdog.

The Forearm of Justice
With his team shorthanded, David Olsson stepped up to the challenge and led his team to victory when they need him most. On top of his capped score of 205 in the second game, Dave also earned himself three Red Hooks due to the three Turkeys he had in both games.

Canadians in Training
It was a glorious Thursday for Dale Peterson. He rolled a few Turkeys, won a few Red Hooks, and played a major role in the Canadians In Training winning their first championship. His two game total of 398 was one pin more than his team needed to take the title.
