With Their Powers Combine....
The Striking Powers!!
Nick has done it again, bringing together an unstoppable team. With their powers combined they are The Striking Powers! Leading this stellar group of bowlers was Matthew Zalupski bowling a total 416 for the night. It obviously isn't his first time to the bowling alley. He closed down the first match with a Turkey just to open the second with another Gobble gobble! Nice work player of the week!!

Theme Night - Mustache Night

Hashtag
You could already tell that the night was going to be an interesting one as a white van with no windows parked normally somewhere near an elementary school lay outside of the bowling alley. The person who emerged was none other than Eric Zimney. Did Eric light up the scoreboard? No. Did he creep the opponents out to the highest extent? Yes. Eric led Hashtag to victory; not in the bowling game at hand, but in the Spirit Dress Up contest at hand. With his natural mustache and sweat shorts, he was the emotional leader of Hashtag, cheering on his teammates, and sending some cheers and winks in the opposing team as well.
Great job Eric and good luck with Mardi Gras next week!

Theme Night - Fat Tuesday
Eric Lindquist
Eric Lindquist
Steve's Bar and Grill Thirsty Turtle Rollers
It takes a great player to anchor a team and help them squeak out two victories over a tough team, one win coming in the final frame. It takes someone truly exceptional to do it with a feather boa, mardi gras beads and wearing a mask all night.
Eric is just the man for the job and he did it with style. He didn't let his team's defeat in the spirit contest hurt his bowling game by registering a 191 in the first game to beat the competition by 2 points. He followed it up with a very strong 204 in the second game where the Thirsty Turtle Rollers won by a slightly greater margin.
What really did it for him to become our player of the week is that he stayed in character as "Xavier," in the spirit of Fat Tuesday night, until the very last frame. Was it good juju? Maybe.
No word yet as to where he was keeping the voodoo pin dolls for the opposing team.

Team Sven
Starting off slowly, Team Sven searched for answers on Monday night. A debate and discussion ensued and it was determined that John needed to eat a grilled cheese sandwich.
Good thing for Team Sven that John isn't lactose intolerant, in fact, he may very well be lactose dependent because after he ate the sandwich he turned it on.
Before the grilled cheese, 1 spare and 4 open frames with 3 gutter balls. After the grilled cheese, 4 strikes, a spare, and only one open frame. This included a Big Turkey.
With the late surge, John's full belly propelled Team Sven to victory.
Don't wait so long next time.

Elisabeth Stover
Dude, Where's My Strike?
Elisabeth has been bowling a while. 32 years by her account. You know something that she hasn't done in that amount of time? Rolled a Big Turkey! That's right, the big triple strike. What made it better is that it was in a cutthroat battle to make the playoffs, and if it hadn't been for her 3 strikes in a row, they would have missed the cut.
What did Elisabeth do with her prize ticket? Bought an orange wristband to carry until the next person on her team rolls a turkey.
Not to be lost in the excitement was the fact that she rolled the best game of her life, two games in a row (163 and 146).
Nice job Elisabeth and here's to not waiting 32 more years!
