Cinderella Story
Sweet Funky Moses makes championship run as #8 seed

Sweet Funky Moses defied all the odds by taking down the 1, 4, and 3 seeds on their way to the title. After advancing to the championship game by getting past I'll Have Another, they were facing a formidable opponent in S'More of What? who had just beaten the #2 Seaballs by a score of 24-7. Sweet Funky Moses came out swinging and put up 5 runs in the first inning. S'More of What responded with 3 runs of their own to keep it close. However Sweet Funky Moses had a big 8-run second inning that gave them a big cushion. S'More of What kept fighting and made it a 5 run game going into the last frame. But a solid defensive showing in the bottom of the sixth preserved the win for Sweet Funky Moses! Congrats to the Cinderella team of the playoffs!

  I'd Hit That

Pretty in Pink
I'd Hit That prove they're making more than just a fashion statement

I'd Hit That had the offense tolling last week as the pulled off upsets of the #4 and #1 seeds, putting up 20 or more runs in both games. Their opponent in the Championship game, Caught Looking, was no slouch on defense however, as they gave up a total of 22 runs in two games last week to advance to the Finals. The Championship game remained close and a low scoring affair for the first 4 innings as Caught Looking held on to a slim 6-5 lead. In the 5th inning, Caught Looking was able to put up their biggest inning of the game (4 runs) and take a 10-6 lead. The way the defenses were playing, it looked like that might be enough to hold on. I'd Hit That had other intentions. They came right back and scored 3 in the 6th and 1 in the 7th to tie the game after holding Caught Looking scoreless in the 6th. I'd Hit That, behind the great pitching of Brittany M were able to hold Caught Looking scoreless in the bottom of the 7th as well and force extra innings. With the game in the balance and runners on base, Heather H came up with a big hit to drive in the go ahead runs and take a 14-10 lead. Caught Looking was able to scratch out one more run in the bottom of the 8th, but it wasn't enough as I'd Hit That was able to hold on and win the title!
