When it came to Ingraham Monday's Dodgeball, Huck's Herniators and the Ball Busters dominated in true fashion throughout the season. It seemed fitting that these two dominant power houses should meet in the title bout. Coming into this championship showdown Huck's Herniators owned the head's up series 2-1, and ALL THREE COMBINED LOSSES from these two teams came from head's up play.
Both teams handled the playoffs with ease: Huck's Herniators (12-1) took down team Big Buck (1-11) with a score of 7-2, then dominated Last Kid Picked (5-8) with a score of 9-0. The Ball Busters (11-2) destroyed Indy #1 (4-8) 10-1, the shut down Chug Life (5-8) with a score of 6-0. Both teams were hot, both teams could smell the title.
The game itself, to no surprise, was a barn-burner. Behind solid defense from Casey Neuberger, Shawna, and Sibylle Haupert, Huck's jumped out to an early 3-1 lead. The Ball Busters would make it a game responding with the hard throwing Matt Gagner, Bobby "Knight," and the elusive purple shorts wearing Kelly. Jen Richardson led the "pants pack" of Andrea, Alycia, Jamie, and Kristy "Muffy" of the dodgeball swat team as the Ball Busters battled to a 4-2 set. Huck's Herniators responded with a powerful surge from George, Aaron, Harlan "the duck" Robins, and Mark "the Lazer Beam" Snyder who just got called up from the Triple AAA Daytona Beach Cubs and overwhelmed the Ball Busters with a barrage of firepower! The overall balance of defense, quickness, and power were too much for the Ball Busters and Huck's claimed victory 7-4.
Congratulations to both teams for their dominance all season, and thank you to all the teams for making Ingraham Monday's a very enjoyable and entertaining league!!!
Congrats to Mark Snyder from Huck's Herniators for claiming not one, but two Player of the Game's earning him Player of the Week!!! Mark was dominating in game one vs the Indy team pounding them to match their maroon shirts! It was the highly touted matchup in game two vs team Ouch! however, that ultimately earned Mark this prestigious weekly award. In a very close game, Mark won a fierce one-on-one battle that lasted over four minutes!!! conrats to Huck's Herniators for continuing their dominance and to Mark Snyder for leading the pack!
Player of the Week goes to Casey Neuberger from team Huck's Herniators. Casey played a vital part of the 10-1 obliteration put on team Last Kid Picked. It seemed like Casey was picking on the last kid picked as she was knocked out players left and right...but it was an amazing catch, in left and right arms respectively, that earned Casey this prestigious recognition. Mind you, this wasn't accomplished in the back court, where the weaker or timid players like to meekly hide themselves, this spectacular athletic achievement was done about 10 feet from the mid-court line!!!! Congratulations Casey for earning not only her first player of the game, but her first PLAYER OF THE WEEK!!!
