First Place

Summer Co-ed Kickball at Ballard/Fremont Sundays

We wish we could say it was close, but Sunday was Kick Me In The Jimmy's day, from start to finish. They started against the always solid Das Boot, and it was close, but for a short time. Thanks to the offensive explosion from Chris- who accounted for over half of his teams runs, either by kicking them in or scoring them himself- the clan of Jimmy was able to secure a convincing win and punch their ticket for the championship.
Meanwhile, Hammer Pants made their own convincing statement in a high scoring game against an uncharacteristically mistake prone Pirates of The Burning Sea. The Pirates remained close throughout the entire game, but never lead, until Hammer Pants were finally able to pull away for good late in the game, winning 14-9.
The championship stage was set- the big kicks and expert bunts of the offense-minded Jimmy's, verses the all-star defense from players like Gavin and Jackie on Hammer Pants.
Again, the game began close as both teams put forth solid efforts, but Kick Me in The Jimmy began to pull away by mid-game, and it was their catcher who made the play of the game, perhaps breaking the will of Hammer Pants and putting the dagger in their heart. After a good base hit, a Hammer Pants runner looked sure to score from third, getting the team back in it, but a long relay throw, and a PERFECTLY executed deflection by the catcher (yes, it was on purpose, he says), tagged him out literally inches before his foot crossed home plate. The Jimmys erupted, and it was smooth sailing from then on, as they cruised to a 13-3 victory.

Congratulations Kick Me In the Jimmy, on your Summer '08 Kickball Championship!
