First Place

Spring Big Turkey Bowling at Sunset Sundays 4:30

It was with heavy hearts that the Sunday 4:30 bowlers entered the alley. The rainy weather outside reflected the sadness felt inside. There may have been tears or maybe there was just an eyelash in my eye. After a heartfelt round of applause in honor of everything Sunset has been to all of us, the league was underway.

Determined not to be thrown off by the overwhelming emotion of this final night at Sunset (nor distracted by the extraordinarily large hats in the adjacent lanes) Saints and Sinners were ready to finish like they started; showing no mercy and taking no prisoners. Having allowed only one defeat all season they have played thus far, a championship sweep was imminent. And they certainly delivered on that promise. Teresa and Christy's solid 138 and 129, respectively coupled with the mastery of Jared and team captain, Eric led them to a "too close for comfort" victory over "Turner Blue Balls" in game 1.

Not willing to allow such a close game twice, "Saints and Sinners" stepped it up a notch and pulled out a victory of 86 pins with Captain Eric once again paving the way with a 167. They walked away as champs leaving their stamp in Sunset's history book (and possibly on the news and in a documentary that was filmed throughout the evening). Finally, with heavy hearts, the 4:30 leaguers said their final goodbyes to Sunset and walked through the doors for the last time.
