Needlebowl 2014

This years Statdog Championship came down to two solid teams who really had to battle to get to the Championship. The division possessed lots of great teams; Portland sent up their best, Malicious who took second place and are always one of the top teams, as well as Blood Bath and Beyond who went undefeated in 2013's Needlebowl and were in the mix trying to get back to back Championships. With all the excellent teams vying for the Crown, it made for an excellent showdown all the way to the end. Team Sweet and Malicious both played with high powered offenses and had stacked teams with top-notch players at every position. Malicious had suffered a loss from Alcoholics Anonymous on Saturday, but bounced back winning their next two, one of those games against AA. Team Sweet showed they were the team to beat with no losses during the whole tourney, and came out and jumped on Malicious early in the chipper. They played as if they were down 20 points the whole game, and never let up. Endurance was also key with the amount of play that both teams had to endure and it looked like Team Sweet's legs were a bit more fresh. With excellent play from Team Sweet's Pro-Bowl level QB, and the high flying catches from Paul they were able to stretch the field allowing key receivers like Jennifer N. and Tamara to make key mid-field catches that moved the chains and kept the punt team on the sidelines. Both teams played excellent football, and it was apparent why these two teams made it to the end, but it was Team Sweet who enjoyed a 34 to 27 victory and left the field 2014 Needlebowl Champs. Great job Team Sweet and all the other teams in Statdog!
