Notes

First Place

Summer Shamrock Short Sided Soccer at Seattle Center Sundays

Because of many team absenses last week, the sixth seed Red Rockets were bumped into the semis, and won a 5-0 game vs. Crush. Both sides has amazing chances, but it seemed that only the Rockets could come up with caps... and amazing ones they were. Goals came flying from what seemed like impossible angles, including one from virtually the corner flag by K. Parker.
The next Semi-final game was 111% epic. in the grey corner, Teen Girl Squad, the ginormous team in heather grey (including their late roster addition Heather Pierce) had not won a game all season. In the Royal Blue corner, the Indy #1 team, Landsharks. But not all of the Landsharks... just 4 of them. Through sheer nobility and courage they faced Teen Girl Squad - 6V4. While watching the game, you couldn't tell that they were playing 2 players down, because they were everywhere, hustling up and down the field making rocket-eske crisp, clean, firm, on the ground passes all over the field. The goals came like ping pong - once one team scored the other one answered right back until the final whistle was blown to end a nailbiting 4-3 game in favor of Teen Girl Squad. They took their numbers advantage to win their first game, and advance to the finals.

The Finals-
Rockets vs. Teen Girl Squad???
yep, you know them, you've beaten them, and here they were... all 15 of them lead by team captain Vanessa... playing the Red Rockets for the title. And then they did something that not many teams have ever done to the Rockets-- they hold them scoreless for the first half. The second half comes almost 5 minutes after the whistle, Red Rockets put away the first goal of the match. Teen Girl Squad never could answer back and lose 0-4 to the Rockets. Without allowing a goal, the Rockets win their 4th straight . Congrats Rockets!

POTW: Kristin Parker

Red Rockets

Kristin is a solid player who hasn't gotten enough props this season. In the first week intense playoff competition, Red Rockets narrowly defeated Where's Brad in an epic, post regulation round of penalty kicks. The increadible saga continued past the 3 primary shooters and continues until the 22nd PK was taken. Not only did Parker make her first kick, but her second PK won them the game after a narrow miss by Where's Brad. This, and her outstanding play all season makes her not only player of the game, but Player of the Week!
