Red Rubber Showdown 13

In a feat that exceeds the efforts of the famed 2000-2002 LA Lakers, the 1995-1997 Chicago Bulls, and the 1965-1967 Green Bay Packers, the Violent Chubbies won a fourth consecutive championship at the 2016 Red Rubber Showdown. On the nation's biggest kickball stage, the Violent Chubbies were calm and collected despite getting down early.

The scoring opened when a controversial call and a costly error plated 3 runs for Portland's Midcore finalists, Another Bad Company. Midcore matchups are typically low-scoring affairs, and 3 consecutive runs is not easily overcome. Nonetheless, the Violent Chubbies pressed onward, playing small ball to eventually even the score. Heading into the 5th and final inning, the game was tied at 3 apiece. After shutting out the top of the inning, the Chubbies rallied together and chanted "One Run!" With their intentions clear and their minds focused, they took to the plate. After a leadoff single and a couple of runner-advancement plays, the Chubbies had a runner on 3rd with two outs. A line drive kick up the third base line would be enough to win the game. Trevor was up to the plate, and thwacked the ball soundly. Though the timing of the hit sent the ball spinning oddly and neutralized the power of Trevor's swing, the ball still traveled up the third base line. Despite a close play at home, the run came in and triggered ecstatic celebration.

Congratulations to the Violent Chubbies, 4-time consecutive champions of the Red-Rubber showdown after a hotly contested championship game with a wild finish!
