Evergreen Escapes Geoducks
In opening night action at Hamlin Park, the Evergreen Escapes Geoducks were led by Joey Scott to a 11-2 win over Amazon Team 3. Scott had two hits and drove in a run, but her defense overshadowed her hitting. With Amazon looking to rally in the 4th inning, Joey made an outstanding play in short right field on a hard to judge pop up. She was able to run down a short "seeing eye" pop up, bobble the ball two times and then make the catch. She then turned and saw that the Amazon runner on 1st base had strayed too far from the bag, and was able to double that runner up and end the inning and the threat. Two innings later in the 6th, she made another fine defensive play to quell another Amazon rally.
Defense is the most important facet of Underdog softball and Joeys fine effort highlighted that point.

This weeks player of the week goes to Marcy Dehnert with her amazing plays at second. Its an easy choice when you hear the other team saying "do not hit it to her". She got a glove on everything that was hit in her direction, and helped her team get a big win in a close game by winning 7 to 6. She was no slouch either with the bat, knocking in a few runs! Great job Marcy!

This weeks player of the week goes to Allen Sharp of "Your name here". Allen had lots of huge blasts with the bat, helping his team knock in lots of runs. He was able to start a big rally in the 6th inning when the score was tied and him and his team never looked back. He also made a great catch in the outfield, diving and coming up with a big out. Evergreen Escapes Geoducks
In a week filled with great Underdog performances, it takes something special to pull down player of the week honors. Well, in the bottom of the 7th with his team trailing 8-6 and the bases loaded, JC Smith did something special. He deposited a 1-2 pitch over the left field fence for a walk-off grand slam that gave his team a hard fought 10-8 victory. Way to go, JC!

Wunderman Thundermen
On a rainy night in Montlake Terrace, Brice Wenker's bat and arm led the Wunderman Thunderman to the league Championship. In the semifinal game, Wenker hit a big home run and then threw out a runner at 3rd base to preserve the win and send his team to the Championship. In the Championship game, he had 4 hits, including a 2 run double that set the stage for the Thunderman's 5th inning rally to win the game. In addition to his outfield assist, he played outstanding defense in left field. Nice work, Brice
