Jeff Andrew Gets First HR In Win
Thursday night's game between Kekamabas and Soft Choice Orange saw some real authentic softball playing. Both teams were playing at a very high level and it came down to hustle and hitting in the end. Kekambas, with the game tied at nine all going into the top of the 7th inning, ripped off eight insurance runs putting heavy pressure on Softchoice Orange. The bottom of the ninth was a lock down inning for Kekembas giving up one hit and ending the game on a very nice outfield catch. The star of the night was ofcourse Jeff Andrew who recorded his first ever home run in USL league play. Right off the bat there was no doubt when he swung that the field was not going to hold it. A towering shot to deep center field and a first for Jeff. Great game Kekembase and awesome home run Jeff.

Nicole Wicks Leads The Charge
Nicole Wicks is the kind of player that you just enjoy watching play the game. Her defense and her offense are both on par with the best in the league and she brings it game in and game out. On Tuesday night she batted 3 for 4 with a beautiful triple down the line scoring two runs early on to get St. Johns going. She has power at the plate and finesse on defense and makes it look really easy when she is doing work. Awesome game Nicole and great with for powerhouse St. Johns.

Ashley and Karly Lead the Way
Softchoice Orange just keeps getting better week after week and they are really starting to come into their own as a team. On Thursday night it was Ashley Santos and Karly Pierce both leading the charge from the plate and in the field. Ashley batted 3 for 5 with a triple and 2 singles and some fine defense in right field while Karly batted 2 for 5 with 2 singles and some lights out defense at 2nd base. Great game to both of you and we look forward to seeing you guys in action next week.

Rob Rancourt's 2 Run Bomb The Difference
The Thirsty Ratchet's came into Tuesday night's game needing a win badly to get to 500 on the season. You could see the frustration on their faces before the game and when the dust cleared they pulled off a two run win against a very good team. Rob Rancourt got things going in the third inning with a deep bases clearing bomb to bring TR within 2 runs going into the fourth inning. Then the pitching and defense took over. They managed to hold Kekembas scoreless for the next four innings while ripping off four runs in the top of the fourth and giving themselves a two run lead that would hold. They get to 2-2 on the year and looking strong with the pieces they have on defense. Great game Rob and great win Thirsty Ratchets.

Mike Kelch and Collin Vincent Steal The Show
The Goulets are simply a force to be reckoned with. They score at will and on defense nothing gets by them. Watching them play is almost like watching a major league softball game. They are that good. Having players like Mike and Collin also adds a dimension to the team that is rarely seen which makes The Goulets very dangerous to opposing teams week in and week out. Collin provides the power hitting and base cleaning while Mike just plays on an entirely different level than everyone else on the field. His power is jaw dropping not to mention his speed on the pads. His defensive skills are on par with the greatest infielders the league has ever seen and the Goulets are fortunate to have them both. Great performances from both of you and great with for the Goulets.

Slumping Michael Kirkman Gets Back on Track
Pitch Slap on Tuesday night brought their A game and brought a tenacity that you just don't see everyday. Everyone hit, everyone ran the bases aggressively and everyone hustled to get it done against Kekambas. Michael had been in a slump going into this game and afterwards there was no doubt that he was out of it and moving on. He batted 3 for 4 with a triple and two doubles scoring two runs and batting in three. His defense at first base was also quite impressive digging out low throw after low throw. After the game we interviewed Michael and his only response to us was that he was feeling it. He sure was. Great game Pitch Slap and an awesome performance by Michael.

Whitney Adelman Sparks Blowout
St. John's just keeps getting better and better every week and every season. I remember when they were just coming up and taking their lumps just like all new teams. No matter what the score was after their loss they would come back the next week and play just as hard. Now, things have changed and St. John's is demolishing teams and making it look rather easy. They have a few titles under the belts and they have worked hard to get where they are Their hitting, their fielding and their pitching is as good as any team in USL and you can expect them to always challenge for a championship. Great win and great game Whitney.

Martha Dane Shuts It Down On D
Kekambas was in rare form on Tuesday night almost blanking rival Major Teague in a very well played game. What stood out the most was the defensive performance and being able to hold a team to two runs. Martha Dane on her own recorded three unassisted put outs from behind the plate then she proceeded to bat 2 for 4 with 2 singles and 2 runs batted in. Great win Kekambas and great defensive performance from Martha.

Season Ends at the Hands of Pitch Slap
I want to give a big shout out to the Mithun Manatees for showing class and lots of sportsmanship during their inaugural season. They will be back and better than ever next season because they have the pieces in place to do so. After bowing out in an earlier game they stuck around just to play another game because of their love for softball. It was a great game that came down to the bottom of the 7th inning. They went down fighting hard and I look forward to seeing them develop as a team for the next few seasons. Great season Manatees!!

Tuesday's 7:30 playoff game featured the number 3 seed against the number 7 seed. In the end it was Pat Bain who ignited the onslaught batting 4 for 5 with a deep bases clearing 3 run jack to get things going early on. He also had a triple and 2 doubles to go along with 6 RBIs. The Goulets Cruise
The Goulets Cruise
Total Team Effort Key
I keep saying it year after year. The Goulets will always be in the running for a championship each season. They continued their dominance on Thursday night against the Upper Deckers ripping off 29 runs over 6 innings and putting an exclamation mark on their season. They hit, the run and they manufacture runs on demand so any team looking to knock them off this season has a huge mountain to climb. Great performance from the entire team.

Strong Defense Key
St. Johns does it again. Behind a strong defense and superb hitting they knock off powerhouse Goulets for their third title in three seasons. After a few struggles on defense early on they made course corrections and were able to hold Toilets to five runs over seven complete innings. Great win for an awesome team and we look forward to seeing you guys defend your title in the spring. Congratulations!!
