Chris was all over the field on defense for the Downtown Panhandlers. In one inning he caught all 3 outs and kept the insane pirate posse from scoring. Nice work Chris!
Defense was the name of the games this week and Kate Stanke epitomized defense. Playing shortstop, she snagged balls out of the air with such ease that she saved a multitude of runs. Some of her catches were unbelievable and her teammates were amazed (as was I). Great job Kate!

Happy Innings
Sean proved his dedication this week out at cascade play field. He sprinted toward third base with determination in his eyes and an aggressive stride. He had nothing on his mind but making it safely to third. In an attempt to stop on the base he tripped and landed face first, with a smack, in the nasty, mud/poop just beyond 3rd base. He stayed focused and still reached back in time to remain safe at 3rd base!! Nice work sean

If you were looking for a defensive gem, it was turned in by Jim Ruttler this week. Playing for Brazil Nuts, he caught various balls in the air and assisted as the first baseman on several close calls that were only called out because he made an excellent stretch on them. Jim had a good offensive game but his main contribution was on the defensive side of the diamond this week. Great Job Jim. Many players were great this week but I have to acknowledge a great pitching job turned in by Panhandler's Theo Carpenter as well. I want to thank every team for great contributions to the PTOW and I look forward to seeing both offense and defense in the playoffs and next season!

Ray was player of the game not for making lots of amazing plays out in the field or for kicking 3 HR's, but Ray just simply had the most fun out of all the players on the field. That's what it's all about.
Every week some player comes up with amazing catches or a throw that saves his team a run or secures the win. Pat Fry made catch after catch in the outfield and kept his team in the game with his great defense. Pat ran the bases well and gave his team hope on offense as well. Great job Pat. Some other players came thru for their teams and I would like to give them honorable mention. Matt Amundson with his game winning home run, Rachel strand with her base running and defense and David Barnes with great throws from third base. Three times Mr. Barnes threw out baserunners from across the diamond by hitting the runners (while they were in full sprint). Great job players and thank you for the great season!
Kelly played hard all game and helped his team win the league Championship!! He had two amazing plays. One was a quick reflex catch (as the pitcher). The ball was kicked hard by one of the PPA Plonkers right at Kelly's face. He caught the ball and his hat went flying from the force of the impact to his face. The second great play was an in-the-park home run! nice work Kelly Fox.
