Spring Co-ed Softball at Greenlake Sundays

Ahhh, Opening Day of Underdog Softball at Greenlake, is there anything like it? Each player stepped to the plate feeling the effects of a long offseason and ready to knock the rust off for a great season of spring ball. But somebody forgot to tell Find the Holes and Oregon Sucks that this is Week 1 as the two squared off in a back and forth dramatic game. Wrapping up the top half of the final inning, it was Oregon Sucks up by 3 runs, but Find the Holes quickly found an answer as they strung together a couple hits followed by a 3 run homerun to tie the game at 14 a piece. Then, as Oregon Sucks was hoping to hold on for a tie, it was Find the Holes' own Jeremy Mitchell who stepped to the plate and crushed the ball to deep center and raced around the bases with a dramatic game winning homerun!! Congratulations to Find the Holes for finding it at the right time, and to Jeremy Mitchell for earning the Opening Day Player of the Week!!!

After his performance in the game of the afternoon, Anthony was the easy choice for player of the week. After the Sluggernauts got down early, they need to play some lights out defense to keep in the game. So they made a pitching change and Anthony came in and shut down the Upvotes for the final 3 innings. If that wan't enough, Anthony then come up huge in the clutch by driving in the game winning run in walkoff fashion. What an exceptional performance, congrats Anthony!!

In a dogfight of a game, Erin Pace came up with with the play of the night. Facing a 2 run deficit and with the opponents having just loaded the bases, the Upvotes needed something to keep them in the game. Just then a hot shot liner screamed toward Pace. She snagged it with ease and applied a tag to double the runner off first. The Upvotes got out of a huge jam, thanks to Pace. They would go on to ultimately win the game, in large part to the momentum swinging double play of Erin pace. Great job!

In order to win the Championship, the Sluggernauts had to survive a battle with Pitch Slap in the semifinals. It was back and forth all day long. In the bottom of the seventh still down a run and facing their final out, they needed some magic. POW Erik Yager delivered. In big time clutch fashion, Erik drilled a line drive to right to score 2 and win the game in walkoff fashion!! Talk about ice water in the veins, congrats to Erik and the whole Sluggernauts team!
