Poppin Runners
Pop Pop Pop
This weeks honors go to the predominately new team Poppin Runners for there excellent play, and great attitudes. Poppin Runners came to the field anxious to get under way and delve into a new sport, and test their skills. They were solid right away on defense making lots of great catches, especially Big Jar, and made solid put-outs in the infield. They soon got the art of kicking down, and were able to tally 12 runs for their first win of the season. Both teams in the second game were ridiculously fun, and made for a great game, and great night of Kickball. Great job Poppin Runners, as well as the runner up Team of the Week, 5th Grade Sports Legends, and their thorough stretching skills.

Denise Wilcher
Kickin' Some Mf'in Balls
Denise played with the perfect balance of intensity and fun!
Never losing her sly smile, she put up quite the performance. She kept the defense on their toes, never showing her cards until the last second on whether she was kicking or bunting.
On a late moment of the game, with her opponents rallying for a comeback, Denise came up with bases loaded and kicked a perfectly placed fly ball just between the infield & outfield defenders to create some breathing room on the scoreboard.
To top off her performance, she legged out a fielders choice and earned her place on second base with a deft slide! Great game Denise!

Lance Rice
LiverBurst
What looked to be a barn yard burner and pitchers duel through the first three innings was broken wide open by Lance's Grand Slam Home Run. Lance came to the plate poised just wanting to lift a fly ball for a sacrifice fly but instead he got a hold of a pitch and provided a Grand Salami instead of just a can of corn...

Steffan Tylre
Poppin Runners
Steffan was the biggest reason why his team left the field victorious. There were several times where balls were lined visciously in his direction at the hot corner and Steffan made snag after snag. There was a ball that surely seemed destined to drop in for a two out, rbi that Steffan calmly snagged over his shoulder to keep the opposing team at bay. Not only was his defense stellar but he also provided the initiall run by lining a shot up the middle for a two rbi single.

Kristen Urdahl
LiverBurst
The play of 2nd baseman Kristen U. was outstanding and earns her this weeks player of the week. With numerous balls kicked in her direction she caught everyone. Kristen helped her squad by catching their throws for force outs, and if the throw wasn't right there she gunned people out. Kristen threw one base runner out with a throw that had lots of velocity, that set the tone of her defense for the rest of the game. Great job LiverBurst, and great job Kristen U.

Ryan Weeger
The loft
Ryan lead the charge for the Loft this week getting a hit in every at bat and scoring 3 runs. His defensive efforts also helped his pitcher sustain a 6 run lead. Good job Ryan on this weeks MVP.

Sue Clark and Joe Carlton
LiverBurst
Sue and Joe showed up for what may be their last game for underdog. Moving to Boston soon these two played a dominant game with only 7 players. They lead their team to a 22 to 7 victory with impressive teamwork. Good work guys and good luck in Boston.

Kick in a box
In a display of team work, I am giving the weekly award to an entire team. As Kick in a box had more male players than available positions, despite any gap in talent level from player to player, the rotated players in the game in a way that allowed everyone to play and sit an equal amount of time. They were the true essense of team spirit and involving everyone that arrived. While they played a great game en route to victory, the way they represented themselves made them and even bigger winner.
Mike entertained everyone with his flare for the game and unique efforts on achieving home runs.
With a double pickle move that would have broken most, he bobbed and weaved his way through countless throws to find himself safe at home.
I think I speak for everyone when I say " Thanks for the laughs!"
Roger followed his grand slam HR last week with a great offensive performance this week. Was on base every at bat with screaming line drives into the gaps, and ended up with 4 runs and 3 RBIs. Nice work!
In a game where her team lost in a playoff semi final battle, Alison, commonly known as 'Alli' competed along with the rest of her team mates to the bitter end. In a close play at the plate, Alli played catcher looking more like a Dave Valle rather than what you may expect from someone of such a petite frame. As the ball was being thrown to her, Alli blocked the plate and lowered her shoulder as she was prepared for contact... The collision between her and her counterpart was a thing of beauty and as the play was over, she was ready get after it all over again.
Garin played way above her small stature and delivered the winning kick in the bottom of the 7th to bring the championship hardware to the Loft for the first time.
With steady play on defense and a big clutch kick on offense, Garin is our Player of the Week!
