Like a Phoenix, rising from the ashes, Jake made his long-awaited return to the court. YOU SHALL NOT PASS could not pass up welcome back hugs and smiles as they filtered into our second floor domain. After 3 long years in the Windy City, Jake was lacing up his kicks to take his rightful place on the court. Showing no signs of rust, the south paw passed nails and looked right at home putting up the double block. Excited to be back in Seattle (he moved back TWO DAYS AGO!) - Jake has been looking forward to this night for awhile. Welcome back, Jake! You will always have a place at Underdog!

Shout out to Michelle Ni, from Micro Set, for being an exceptional player. Michelle led her team straight from the gates through her superb serve receive and constant communication. No matter how intense the competition got, Michelle remained upbeat and flamboyantly celebrated every success her teammates had. She truly was the ultimate hype man of the team! Thanks Michelle for embodying the underdog spirit with your intensity and positivity. Congrats, you deserve it!

Get it up!

After winning a close game her team was in a 10 point deficit and working through at least 12 volleys a point to get through each point. When the other team tried to throw off their timing she dove for a pancake to get up a short tip. The ball goes back over, is passed to the outside hitter who slams it right back down at her and she’s barely gotten back up and it gets her in the shoulder. She passed it up like a pro and continued to smile through the volley. That’s just one way Alison was an unspoken leader on the Get it up! Team this week. She embodies the underdog spirit and we are looking forward to seeing her continue to represent the league well.

This player is not only his team’s setter but the court’s leader when he steps out. He is the loudest person on the court, encouraging his own team and the others, laughing through incredible plays. He is sprawling out for passes and getting right back up to make a quick set. His smile encourages others to have fun, enjoy the game, and play their hardest. It doesn’t hurt that he makes incredible digs no matter the score too.

Fred has exhibited the underdog spirit throughout the winter season. During the quarter finals he was running around throwing himself on the floor to ensure the ball stayed in play. No matter the score he has a smile on his face and is encouraging players on both sides. We hope Fred continues to come back and show others how to be the best underdog player!

The Up-sets

Molly was all over the place in the best way during this champs week!! She was sliding on the floor always the first one down to get the ball back up. Always the first one to bring her team up as well. If you saw her on the court at any court in the game you would see her yelling for each play, taking balls in the shoulder, one arming a ball from back court over the net, and hitting the floor at the net to cover her players. It was incredible watching their spirit throughout the game and her hype is what I strive to have!!
