Summer Co-ed Softball at Queen Anne/Interbay Tues/Thurs

This weeks player of the week is Garrett N. for his bombs he hit in the first game of the night. Garrett had the opposing team in awe with his work with the bat. Garrett got on everytime except for his last hit where the outfielder camped at about 500ft from the plate and let the ball come to her, which was still a outstanding hit, as it took two relay throws to get it back into the infield. Garrett had 2 homers and knocked in runs helping his team start off 1 and 0. Great game Garrett!

Mike Pluhta not only pitched a lights out game on Tuesday night but he absolutely ripped it up at the plate to help his own cause. Using the long ball to drive in 6 runs Mike was on fire at the plate going 4 for 4 with a deep bases clearing bomb, 2 triples and a double. Some very aggressive base running got him into trouble on one occasion but other than that Mike dominated all night on both sides of the ball. Great job Mike and can't wait to see you in action again.

The 2012 Underdog Gold Glove goes to Kedren Woodly of Smack My Pitch up. Woody, in left field, came up Huge for his team, making play after play always hustling to make those crucial outs. Amazing performance, Woody!

In a game that had to be one of the best played USL games I have ever been a part of, Dan Hunt in the bottom of the 9th inning delivers a run scoring shot up the middle giving Smack My Pitch Up a well deserved victory. His defense at third base was also stellar and proved to be a deciding factor in the later innings when Eye Candy could not score much needed runs. Not much got by him all game long and with out Dan delivering tonight Eye Candy easily walks away with a victory. Great job Dan!

If there is anything to be said about hard play and hustle it's that everyone loves a player who plays hard and hustles. Kalin was on fire Tuesday night at the plate and absolutely dominated on defense. He went 4 for 4 with bases clearing HR, a triple, two doubles and drove in 6 runs. His play at third was simply marvelous and downright nasty. I look forward to seeing Kalin in action again during the playoffs. Great game Kalin!

Erin was in rare form on Tuesday night playing multiple positions and locking down No Glove No Love the entire night. She also batted 3 for 4 with a bases clearing double and also scoring 4 runs herself. Great game Erin.

This weeks player of the week goes to Marcus Oest......etc. Marcus came up big inn a tight game decided by 6 runs ending 20 to 14. Marcus was the team leader at the plate going 5 for 5 with 2 Homers that knocked in the all important insurance runs. Marcus knocked the ball into apposing zip codes with they were hit so hard. With Marcus performance in the playoffs he is the player of the week!
