Dubbed "Smoak N' Furbush" for the championship game, Smoak N' Fister used the name change to bring Lady Luck onto their side for the day. In what looked to be a devastating blow to their offense when POG Blake Helgerson dislocated his shoulder, "Furbush" rallied together and would not let pain come between them and a championship. Terrific plays all game long like a smoking line drive caught by pitcher Kiel Winters, or Hoover-esque 3rd baseman Jon Kilpatrick thwarting every ground ball, Smoak N' Fister looked every bit a champion. Great season guys!

Sporting their new champ shirts as they headed off the field, Sports! left no doubt they would be in the upper echelon of Underdog Softball lore.
In a ridiculously close battle of the midcore legends, Beer Batters and Sports showed tremendous mental strength with all the ups and downs of the game.
After leading 2-0 into the 3rd inning, Sports! found themselves in a 7-2 hole after several costly errors came back to bite them after the top half of the frame.
Not afraid to answer, Sports! notched two more runs in the bottom half to make it a 3-run game, and then proceeded to pile on runs in the 4th and 6th innings to give them a 1 run lead headed into the final inning.
However, it was truly defense that saved Sports! in this game, with Teddy Strzelecki and Jesse Knight patrolling the outfield. Between the two of them, they gunned two runners out at home that could easily have been the deciding factors in the game. Their incredible play, compounded with Kiyo Peterman laser from right field for an out in the 2nd inning, set the stage for late inning drama and heroics. With only 1 allotted home run left, George Tramountanas scorched a fastball so far over the left field fence it sent the skaters scrambling for cover!! A game winning homer to win a championship? Can't script a better ending than that! Great game Sports!
